The DCS Updater / Launcher GUI Utility Version 2.0 (2023+)

Recommended Posts

v12-11-2016-1:

-Added "The Border" Campaign Button

-Added "The Border" Campaign DRM Button

-Added "The Border" Campaign Checkbox

-Re Aligned All Buttons and Checkboxes to Condense Space

-Moved A-10C and Ka-50 License Drop Boxes above sections (To condense space)

-Removed Option to Shrink Window Size from 1300x900 for this build

A Reminder, 12-11-2016 and Previous 12-05-2016 are still in testing w/ the folder options etc.

Once I believe the Folder Settings setup is solid, I'll Update the first post of the thread w/ new versions etc

Also, I Plan to Merge Fixed and Rotary Wing Module Buttons into "Aircraft Modules"

So Future Builds would be "Aircraft Modules" "Campaign Modules" Etc, Eventually Bringing "Video Training Modules" to the Main Window, as well as Advanced Update Options.

Edit: now Microsoft is seeing it as the same threat both from web and from my DCS Folder, the weird part is, until today, no problems were ever detected by Microsoft.

It's likely a false positive,

I'll Look into it. but it appears to just be this one build 10-06-2016-2, and it only shows as a threat sometimes (like 2 out of 15 times i goto the folder I archive the files, and 1 out of 15 when I download).

I think 10-06-2016-2 had some new code introduced in the back ground that was incomplete as it was prepping for the new setup and MS might be seeing that as some type of malicious hook.

I Just Compiled this Version, Give it a try (note it's the New Version, so there's likely some issues),

Windows 10 is Removing CMD and replacing it with PowerShell.

No they aren't they are making powershell the default command prompt. CMD.exe will still be there for everyone to use via system32 directory.

Its time to switch to powershell anyway, CMD has been around since command.com and command.exe days and really is limited in what it can do. Powershell is extenable and you can make it do what you want.

I'm a Bum I'll fly with anyone!

CMD was removed from Insider Builds, and when people complained they put it back.

Originally CMD was to be removed.

I'm still part of the team.

Eventually CMD will be replaced completely,

Power shell will be the default, and CMD will reside for now, but eventually it's going to go.

Hi SkateZilla

Thanks for making this fantastic app. I'm having issues managing two installs - OpenAlpha and OpenBeta.

OpenBeta works.

OpenAlpha will not open and says I need to repair DCS.exe. I can manually open OpenAlpha from shortcut (ie, it does not need repair).

I've noted that when trying to select the Build to Manage, the Current Folder version stays with the OpenBeta directory. Have tried selecting Alpha and then saving Path Settings, no joy.

Access to Installs is verified.

OCVzZO1.png

Am running Version 12.18.2016 of the GUI.

The DCS Updater Utility is located in the working OpenBeta directory only.

Hope you can help.

Hi, why don't you detect installations via reading the registry? A normal build puts them in HKCU>software>Eagle Dynamics>dcs world>path. and OA also.

Is it because people mess about converting them from one to the other?

Is it because people mess about converting them from one to the other?

A Few Reasons, But Mainly because I know alot of users, my self included that have multiple installs that are not in the registry due to copy/pasting them to another folder to move or create another copy.

Firstly, great application SkateZilla, good job. Perhaps this may be classed as mission creep, and perhaps I have overlooked this or has been mentioned before, but have you thought about including in your app, the ability to copy control profiles from one branch to the other?

I have my controls all set up on the Open Alpha, would be nice to copy then to Beta. Can do it manually of course, but something in this tool would be great.

This was more for Install / Build / Module Management,

Copying Input Profiles from one to the other isnt recommended TBH especially when there are changes to a modules controls, and as you said, a simple copy/paste usually works,

Seeing as how a user can set custom /saved games/ Folders, thats another variable that I would have to program the app to scan for, and ask for access too.

I have come across this thread because this utility was recommended to avoid having 3 different installs of DCS - release, open beta, and open alpha.

I can't understand how it is supposed to work across all versions! Is there a help/user file anywhere?

Hey, just installed this very cool tool with the release of 1.5.6 OB update to branch. I guess I did something wrong. Now my DCS UI is very dark now after updating from 1.5.5 release to 1.5.6 OB.

This is at all times in the 2D

870bf3f8e32ddde0e410b00d275c6ee7.jpg

It's a very similar brightness to when the UI is loading information, like logging in or when you first click the modules button.

I'm not sure how to fix it. I've tried removing the .exe and repairing both with and without this tool. The brightness is correct once the 3D world loads. But in the 2D UI it's always this dark. I've been looking around and searching but haven't been able to find this issue anywhere else. Thanks.
