baltic_dragon Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 I did some testing in the last few days while building some missions and it seems there are some problems with MANPADs, at least on my side: A) Russian MANPADs don't shoot, they just sit there. B) Other MANPADs (Iglas) are rather weak, in my testing it usually took at least 4 hits to kill A-10C, 4-5 hits to kill Mirage-2000. F-15 or Mig-21 always went down after 2 hits. F-16A between 2-4 hits. That surely isn't right? Could somebody confirm that? For more information, please visit my website. Think what the OP is trying to say is that the AI Iglas won't fire at aircraft.
WinterH Posted March 3, 2016 Posted March 3, 2016 Iglas have always tended to take like 3 even 4 shots on likes of Su-25 or A-10. Mirage itself is fairly broken as far as damage resiliance goes. At least it was last I've flown it, haven't tried it yet in 1.5.3. Real life too has examples of aircraft getting hit by manpads and landing but that's one missile and not 4 :). Damage model is unfortunately still not one of DCS strong points. Stingers seem a bit more dangerous than Iglas though. Another interesting thing was, Avenger's missiles were both longer ranged and more powerful than manpads stingers, which, unless I'm mistaken, are the same missiles. Since about 1.5.2 or so, just about every weapon in DCS seem to have got palpably weaker. From big bombs to gun shells. I am hoping this changes are part of growth pains towards a total overhaul of damage system for a better one. Wishlist: F-4E Block 53 +, MiG-27K, Su-17M3 or M4, AH-1F or W circa 80s or early 90s, J35 Draken, Kfir C7, Mirage III/V DCS-Dismounts Script
baltic_dragon Posted March 3, 2016 Author Posted March 3, 2016 I know one Igla should not always be deadly for A10 or Su-25 (in fact, during the Georgian war, several Russian SU-25s were hit by several Iglas, and usually only second or third hit would be fatal. Interesting fact: most of Russian air losses there were from friendly fire). But can anyone confirm that the Russian Iglas (so belonging to faction: Russia) do not shoot? Winston60 Posted March 5, 2016 Posted March 5, 2016 Also, the Russian infantry no longer shoot small arms fire at you, just like the manpads. you can fly right over them in fixed wing or helo or even land a blue side helo right next to them and they remain completely passive. I have yet to test any other infantry red or blue side, but I will do that soon. I just created a separate bug report topic for this.
