Sarge55 Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Huh? Seemed pretty clear to me. The use of profanity in the title is inappropriate. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] i7 10700K OC 5.1GHZ / 500GB SSD & 1TB M:2 & 4TB HDD / MSI Gaming MB / GTX 1080 / 32GB RAM / Win 10 / TrackIR 4 Pro / CH Pedals / TM Warthog

mattebubben Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 (edited) Well. The question is did he actually target ur missile? Or (as i think is more likely) did it simply get close enough for the proximity fuse. Since you guys were head on and fired at the same time and neither did any large evasive maneuvers (untill after the missiles hit eachother) So the missiles most likely just happend to cross eachother by accident and were close enough for the proximity fuse to detonate. So id say it was most likely luck and not skill. Especially since without the radar slaving function it would have been pretty much impossible for him to know if the missile seeker was locking the missile or your airplane. Azrayen Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Qu'est ce que tu veux dire par là ? Mhmm, perhaps I misunderstood... @ 0' 14" : "Et fox 1" (and indeed mode 530 on the HUD). But then we saw Magic missiles (i.e. fox 2s). You changed point of view??
zxarkov Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 A couple times I noticed that I had actually knocked down incoming missiles with the su 27 using the launch override. I am guessing it is a proximity fuze that sets it off? __________________________________________________________ i7 3930k @ 4.7GHz | GTX 980 Ti | 16GB G.Skill 2133 Quad Channel | Samsung 850 EVO SSD | Win7 ProX64 | CH Fighterstick | CH Pro Pedals | CH Throttle | BenQ XL2730Z 1440p

No, it happened to me a few times too. With Magic auto lock, in case of head on shot, the Magic seeker seems to lock the incoming missile. So if you shoot it goes straight on it. Mirage fanatic ! So if you shoot it goes straight on it. yea. But in that case its an accidental lock on. So its not really skill based if you are not doing it on purpose. It would be one think if you targeted the enemy missile. But if your purpose is to shoot down the enemy aircraft and your missile decides to go for the enemy missile that is pretty much luck. As im guessing its not something you intended to do but rather something that happened by accident.
jojo Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 (edited) I didn't say it was on purpose. But in such case, the Magic seeker locks the incoming missile. And you don't really notice at first sight. I had to analyze Tacview records. In head on presentation, with Magic selected, if the other guy shoot first it will repeat again and again. It's not just the proximity fuse detonating when passing in proximity of the other one. Edited April 6, 2016 by jojo Mirage fanatic !
