Has anyone given any thought to bomber and spy aircraft?

In addition to fighter aircraft has anyone given any thought

to bomber and spy aircraft. UAVs? Aircraft like the B52, B58 Hustler,

B1B, B2 Spirit, F117 Nighhawk. These would be great additions to DCS.

 

Of course these are all Airforce. What about Army Patriot missles.

Navy Harpoon missiles. Carrier landing and take off with Navy Aircraft.

 

F16 Falcon, F22, F35, AV8 Harrier. V22 Osprey.

Carrier landings are already possible with the Su-33. The Harrier is in the works. Things like the B-2 and F-117 are unlikely as it is nearly impossible to get data on.

And let me add that small maps doesn't give many reason for long range bombers.

Having sed that a camera pod for my 21 will be great.

I'm sure the B-2 is out of the question since it's heavily classified and still in service.However i'm sure well see spyplanes and bombers someday when we have every Fighter/Attack plane in the game.:D

F117 is de-classified? It would be an interesting option given its service record.

 

Otherwise spyplanes like U2 or SR71 are boring high altitude flights. No combat action.

Bombers probably also.

 

Perhaps the interesting ones are old fashioned dive bombers like Stuka, for it has to get close to its targets and would be a challenge to fly and achieve hits.

I don't see an intrinsic problem with strategic bombers even with small map size. The reason being, flying in a straight line for 8 hours over the ocean before the real mission starts just doesn't add anything for me. That said, big carpet bombing machines simply don't interest me.

 

I would like a mix of attackers and light bombers like the Su-17/20/22/24/25, MiG-23BN/MiG-27, A-6/7/29, F-111 and Jaguar. I wouldn't buy all of them if all were offered, but I would like 2-3 options for east and another two for west (bearing in mind we already have the A-10C, so 3 options total). I have no interest in recon planes.

I think modern(ish) bombers would actually be quite boring for the same reasons that King Hrothgar has stated.

An F-117 could be interesting due to limited payload and it's specific mission parameters, but for all practical terms it's not really a bomber, it's really a strike craft.

 

Old bombers on the other hand, like say, a Lancaster (hint hint VEAO!) or a B17/B24/B29 etc.. would be fun. Slower speeds means giant map size isn't needed, plus WWII-style escort missions will be a lot of fun no matter which cockpit you're in.

Honestly I'll buy any low flying penetration bomber/attacker like the Tornado or anything before. I'm not a fun of complicated avionics, the a10 or the coming fa18 is too much for me.

Can't wait for the viggen instead!

I agree. I think tactical bombers would be a good fit for both the Caucasus and NTTR maps, so things like the F-15E, Tornado, F-111 and Su-24M2 would be very nice to have. I'd imagine that implementing them would be dependant on the on-going development of the A2G radar and back-seat AI code though.

 

I vaguely remember reading that the Mud Hen is on the to-do list somewhere...

I think spy aircraft could work only if ED implements the ability to photograph targets.It would be fun to try and dodge AAA,SAMs & Interceptors while spying in a campaign mission to help fighters & bombers locate potential targets.As for bombers,i would like to see them implemented with PFM/ASM too,but only when ED finally get's multi-crew and maybe smarter AI for single players like me done.
