dogbite Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Nice one, cheers for that You may be able to crank your PD a little in other games with the debug tool. Try 1.2 first. Probably shouldn't go more than 1.5 with a 970, but depends on the game. Welcome to VR. eaglecash867 Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Stop moving the mouse and it will disappear in a few seconds. Tool tips can be switched off in the options menu. Yup. The crosshairs only seem to appear when tooltips are active, or when the "Use Mouse" box is unticked in the VR menu. The mouse and VR headset pointer crosshairs seem to interfere with each other if that box is unticked as well, causing loss of control because the pointer has wandered outside the game window. Does anybody know how to turn the tooltips off in a training mission? I have them turned off in the main setup, but they are still active in training missions. Its kinda difficult to complete training missions with the mouse/VR headset pointer interference issues. If I use mouse only, it works flawlessly. The training mission settings override those set globally - you should be able to switch off the feature within a mission by opening it in the mission editor, but it may be that specific missions have protection that will prevent you doing so. It would of course be a huge improvement if the tool tips window was just large enough to contain the text. It is a huge immersion killer right now.
Johnny Dioxin Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 (edited) Thanks for clarification! I have already bought this inateck usb 3 card. But my pc doesn't recognize it. Was also unable to install the driver, so I will try it with my regular usb3 ports which are not officially supported... We will see, thanks guys! I don't know how you're getting on with this, but I thought I would check back with some further info on my situation. As I said, I had been using the motherboard USB3 ports, but had been having sound issues and one case of the sensor not being detected mid-session, so I ordered the Inateck recommended PCIe card and in the meantime used a Renesas chip based USB3 card borrowed from a second PC. Just to update on that - I never had a single issue with the Renesas card, but put the Inateck one in, as it what is recommended. Since then, I've had nothing but problems. Displays repeatedly going black mid-session and sensor losing connection. I also continually hear the USB device connected/disconnected sound from Windows. So now the Inateck card is coming out again and the Renesas one is going back in. In future if anyone asks, I won't be recommending the Inateck card. I'm sure it works for some - but enough have had issues, now including myself, that I would not advise it as a definite fix. Johnny Dioxin Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 I just received my VR Lens Lab inserts and tested them and they are great. Here is a quick video about the actual fit, as some on reddit were unhappy: https://youtu.be/LDshNFgB2m8 I am absolutely gobsmacked after testing! My picture inside the Rift is many times better with the VR Lens Lab inserts than without. No question. The Blueguard coating doesn't seem to affect anything and the only issue I have is with fogging - which I have without the lenses, too. We do have some high humidty atm though - and that'll probably be the cause. Well impressed! Gruman Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Actually, Inateck said on their Forums... If you are on WIN10, dont use their driver... Use the one which comes with Win10. SkateZilla Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 The driver's on their CD are a Year+ Old, at least they were for me. I never use CD Drivers anymore, goto Website and download the latest. Usually the default drivers on the Windows Server are the best ones, however most of the time it's just drivers and not control panels or tuning software that usually come with the device etc. Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs

Johnny Dioxin Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 I usually do the same and throw the CD in the corner - don't think I did on this occasion - it may well have downloaded them from the CD prog, I'm not sure. Anyway - I put the Renesas card back in today and guess what? The HMD works just great, but Oculus refuses to accept it for the sensor, regardless that it was working fine last time (been at least one update since then) and was still working well, even when the Oculus software was saying it wasn't! Anyway, I plugged the sensor into a motherboard USB3 slot and since then all has been great. Teej Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Just a heads up from someone on our team...this is certainly not the ONLY cause of this problem, but if you get to the point in the setup where it says "continue in the Rift" (ie it wants you to do the focusing / pupil distance thing) and...your rift is dark... Make sure you don't have "display link" installed. This is often used for people with nonstandard monitors and/or docking stations (certain laptops). "Tank! I need a program for a TM Warthog!" Ratcatcher Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Well I had another issue come up last night in DCS with the displays going blank again. @lobo, have you had the blank screen happen in other programs? I will have to do more testing but the night before I played Adrift for quite a while without any crash but last night just playing DCS caused a crash within10-15 minutes. Despite how good it is, I was reluctant to put the device on before, but now I can't wait until my next session. All clear (i.e. the sweet spot is now much larger, and further objects can be viewed without strain) and no headaches at all. Rig: Asus TUF GAMING B650-PLUS; Ryzen 7800X3D ; 64GB DDR5 5600; RTX 4080; VPC T50 CM2 HOTAS; Pimax Crystal Light I'm learning to fly - but I ain't got wings With my head in VR - it's the next best thing!
NeilWillis Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 You can use something called anti-mist to cut down the amount of fogging you're getting Brixmis. It's available from places ike Halfords, and is designed for bikers and the like. Just put a little on a cloth and polish the lenses. I would check it is OK for use with the Rift before coating the lenses on the rift, but for the inserts - which are presumably made of glass or polycarbonate there shouldn't be an issue. Alternatively, just use spit the same way. Not as effective, but it works.
