Solty Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Instead of bottling up what I want to say, I though, hey why not make a wish list here right? It might be a good place for Devs to see and consider some of it. (Hopefully all of it :P) So I have a little list of things that I would like to see in DCS WW2 in the future, because I think that much of that is realy needed for a good experience of WW2 air combat of late 1944:smartass: 1. Better Damage Model (DM) that would include oil/coolant/fuel/hydraulic leaks, progresive damage to control surfaces and their effects on the Flight Model (FM) 2. More ammunition types, as in this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=143224 But not only for .50cal, but all weapons. That includes Mk108, Hispano and MG151. 3. New effects. Based on different ammo types different effects that occur on different materials. Tracers/Flashes/Explosions/Sparks/Gun Flashes/Smoke/Fluid leaks. 4. 72'hg P-51D. 5. Fleshed out factions. Both the Allies and Axis have currently planed very little to make them IMHO a good fighting force, certainly not representative of what both air forces were composed. That is why I propose the structure. When we get all 6 'Fighters' we need at least 1 'Ground Attack' airplane for a faction and 1 'Medium Bomber'. To make complex mission making possible. I propose: Axis Hs129 or Me410 Ju88 Allies: Mosquito B25 7. Improved Netcode for MP. I am not listing the obvious stuff that is already beeing worked on. Just what I think is the most important for a good WW2 air combat experience. I wrote that so that I can have all my ideas posted in one place and maybe it will be helpful for the devs.:pilotfly: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]In 21st century there is only war and ponies. Reflected Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 I agree, especially with the DM. DCS in its current form was not designed for smaller caliber guns... :/ AI B-17s would be nice too. Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
Legioneod Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Agree with you 100% I think the dmg model should be top priority when it comes to ww2. And I hope they model dmg to what you've said and even more. I hate how I can put a ton of round in some dudes engine/fuselage and he wont suffer and fuel/oil/coolant leaks and he just continues flying like nothing hit him. Also more variation in what can be dmg would be cool. Some more visual effecs like holes in the wings from flak or bent props or pieces of the aircraft missing/crushed. Visual dmg model is less important so I hope they focus on the internals like oil, coolant, and fuel leaks etc etc Some heavy bombers would be nice, that way I can fly high alt escort missions in the stang and jug. Some variation in ground targets would be cool for bombers and for fighter bombers like the jug, I'm thinikin trains, factories, buildings, wagons convoys for ammuntion, etc etc.
WinterH Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Overall, very good points Solty. Especially the damage model is pretty much everyone's pet peeve I guess, it certainly is mine at least :). Thankfuly it is stated to be underway for a change somewhere on forums by Raccoon. I wonder an additional thing though, pertaining more the attack flights. Sometime in (hopefuly near) future we will get WW II ground units. And WWII attack birds or fighter bombers will have more period appropriate stuff to shoot at compared to BTRs, BMPS, M113s etc we make do with currently. Most of us who fly air to ground knows how annoyingly accurate AAA can be in DCS. A BMP-2 gives even a Su-25 or A-10 a darn hard time, sometimes even at surprising ranges. I wonder if new ground units for WW II will have different methods of anti aircraft gunnery compared to current magical snipers. If not, something like a Wirbelwind or Bofors may just become an insurmountable hurdle for a fighter bomber, or worse yet, a slow attack plane. Wishlist: F-4E Block 53 +, MiG-27K, Su-17M3 or M4, AH-1F or W circa 80s or early 90s, J35 Draken, Kfir C7, Mirage III/V DCS-Dismounts Script
