I started playing around with DCS three years ago. Last year I purchased the F-15C module. I love the plane, and would really like to have some fun with it, but I'm not a joystick guy.

I always use my G502 mouse in Elite: Dangerous and other flying games. It fits me perfectly. It's relatively cheap and offers quick freelook, pitch and roll. Then for yaw action I use Q and E.

My problem with DCS F15 is that for some unfathomable reason, it is impossible to bind pitch and roll to the mouse.

Now, I don't wish to be rude, but please keep all replies like "DCS is a hardcore sim, only nabs use mice, get a jostick you unwashed filthy casual" to yourself.

I just want to have some fun flying this virtual plane that I bought, and it's quite impossible to do so with keyboard stick controls.

I just find it incredible that the devs did not deem it necessary to allow mouse stick, but thought it was okay for people to tap the arrow keys as an alternative. Millions of people enjoy flying with the mouse, it is not that uncommon. Until I can fly the way I want.....when every other thing under the sun is bindable.... I've wasted my money, and would definitely not invest any more. :helpsmilie:

First off...it's n00b. Jeez what a nab!

In the other aircraft, say the SU-25 or A-10A that came with your original purchase where you able to use the mouse as pitch and roll control? Like before you bought the F-15 module?

Next, this thread might help:

hehe

No, I couldn't do so with the free aircraft either.

That thread didn't help. The entire section for Flight Control does not allow the mouse to be set. The only thing I can do to the mouse is in Axis Assign. And that's just for the Free-look camera.

The main problem is that this is a flight simulator and in this type of soft the developers try to make things realistic, not mass playable as other games with airplanes or spacecraft. As you know, real aircraft are controlled with sticks, jokes (and pedals), so that is how DCS it is designed to be played.

Some modules also have a "game mode" but I am not sure whether that would help you or not, or even if the F-15 has it, as it already is a pretty simple module...

Don't you have a game controller either? That should be easily configurable to use.

I guess mouse control would be reasonable.

However, given that the devs seem to be very overloaded and even relatively major bugs can take months/years to fix, implementing something which is by default not a part of the sim must be veeeeery low on the priority list...

This thread has a solution to my problem. However it did not work with my mouse. Maybe it can help others. I've tried pretty much everything, made an AHK script but didn't work...

I'm gonna give it another few months or years and come back to see if it's implemented.

BTW I have a PS4 controller I use with Windows, but it's really about the mouse-flight for me.

Just get a 10 dollar stick. Seriously. Unless you are disabled or something off course.

It's not about money. I'll just wait.

Ah, now I understand why I crash so often. It must be the quality of my jokes. Like this one.

Pilot: "Aircraft handles funny."

Maintenance: "Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious."
