Here's a six part BBC documentary from the 90s about pilots trying to get into the Army Air Corps. While training they fly the Gazelle (the first couple of episodes are more about basic training before they get into a helicopter.) I've linked the first part...

Thanks for that, wow Solo in the first 11 hrs. :O

I've not even managed a successful landing in that. :helpsmilie:

So then, as today is house cleaning day, daughters in Nursury, wife's at work. I feel it is my duty to abandon the house cleaning, and get some practice in instead, I'm obviously behind the curve. ;)

Think she will buy it. :pilotfly:

Fighter pilots make movies, Attack pilots make history, Helicopter pilots make heros.

I noticed there's some sort of 'telescope' that the co-pilot uses in these videos, is that something that we'll be getting for the rocket pot and stuff?

Well whaddaya know, looks like we'll be getting a new aiming system soon:

Development Update 16.05.2016

Plus a system that looks pretty close to what was shown in the BBC documentary is also in the works:

Yes - it's the Athos Camera sight system. It will also be part of the addon.

Re UK spec of the Gazelle and whether it was only a scout heli and what optics it was fitted with...

'The British Gazelle AH.1s were originally unarmed, but they were rigged with unguided rocket pods for combat use in the 1982 Falklands conflict. Later in the 1980s, about 70 AH.1s were fitted with a roof-mounted GEC-Ferranti AF532 optical sighting system for the scout / targeting role, and after that some survivors were fitted with a "direct voice input" command system. Most of the British Gazelle fleet was retired in 2010.'

Gazelle (and a Tiger) firing a mistral...

Thanks, it answers all my questions on how the Mistral is fired from the Gazelle and the pilot's HUD and visual/audio clues.

Awesome documentary! And at the 25:00 mark there is a gazelle auto rotation for you folks!

A helicopter documentary which features some AAC Gazelles at the beginning doing aerobatics and later on a Royal Navy version doing some autorotation practise..
