Ddawg Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 (edited) I have DCS 1.5 and FC3. I have a laptop and I accidentally put it in 3 screen mode and now I can only see a thin part of the center of the DCS world screen in the middle of my laptop screen with 2 black bars on either side. I have researched solutions and there is no way to select the 2 non existent screens on either side and I cannot access the setup menu to change back. Does anyone have any Idea how I can fix this? Thanks DD Edited May 21, 2016 by Ddawg
Apache600 Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 I wonder if DCS Repair might reset the defaults. Go to the Start Menu, and find DCS that way. There should be an option for Repair there. Abburo Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 In Windows 10 I found there is a virtual monitor active which can create some strange behavior sometime. This, combined with using sporadically another monitor creates even "more fun" in debugging. Try check you display options and set to inactive any other display showed there. Ddawg Posted May 21, 2016 Author Posted May 21, 2016 C:\Users\yourname\Saved Games\DCS\Config\Option.lua either edit it ( use notepad++ ) or delete it, then redo your settings Thanks for the help, but the only file I have in my Config is 'input' with my joystick settings. Am I missing something? I also searched win 10 and I didn't find any virtual monitor settings. Thanks DD
Whareagle Posted May 21, 2016 Posted May 21, 2016 Same thing happened to me... DDawg - I've submitted a report to DCS, but it's been over a week and they haven't gotten back to me. What DID work was, I went in to that 'options.lua' and copied the relevant stuff between the indents that I'd had on 1.5.x, and then I pasted it in to the 2.0.2 Alpha Options. It did work, but I'm vexed by the cursed Saitek HOTAS weirdness that others have reported, and I've reverted back to 1.5.3 for the time being, though, honestly, the problem there is with the Rhino Joystick not binding the buttons. So try it if you have a functional 1.5.3, and if not, submit a report and see if you can get them to help out.

Thanks DD what bignewy said is correct. either load up the game and figure out a way to get to the options screen and revert back to normal. Or edit the options file, which should be easier. PiedDroit Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 (edited) You can also rename the whole \Saved Games\DCS folder (or DCS.openbeta or DCS.openalpha, depending of the version you're using, each DCS version has its own folder in Saved Games). DCS will re-create a new one and populate it with default values. You can still copy some of your old settings (e.g. inputs) back into this folder. Edited May 22, 2016 by PiedDroit

There is no option.lua Something else came to my mind, the file \Config\options.lua (with an "s") should be here regardless. How are you starting DCS? If you "run as admin" then you must look in admin\Saved Games\DCS instead of <user>\Saved Games\DCS (or DCS.openbeta or DCS.openalpha).
