Cockpit Textures

Replacement cockpit textures for Canadair-built and early F-86F (Fernandez skin) paint schemes available here:

https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1430082/

Added some new details like the "press to test/dim" text on the warning light rims, new flap placards and throttle friction placard on quadrant, cleaned some stuff up, and, of course, added the new parking brake and switch guard text textures (Canadair Sabres had grey/white parking brake handles).

Follow the README carefully.

Before you choose a skin, think about which cockpit textures (RCAF Grey vs. Black) will match and change the cockpit too before hitting FLY!

USAF Fernandez - Black

RAF - Black

Italy - Black

Israel - RCAF Grey

RCAF (all, including Golden Hawks) - RCAF Grey (duh)

SAAF - RCAF Grey

Portugal skins - Default Belsimtek textures

:)

USAF 334th FIS, "Pete Fernandez" updated here:

https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1447127/

When I fly this skin it has the black cockpit. When I fly a stock skin or any of the other skins I have, they all have the stock grey cockpit. I see the black cockpit texture files are in this skins folder and in the description.lua file. So how do I revert back to the original grey cockpit in this "Pete Fernandez" skin?

Hi Winston,

Fernandez' aircraft did have a black cockpit, all F-86s built before late 1953 did. The cockpit colour changed to US Interior Grey thereafter.

If you prefer the grey cockpit you could download one of my Portuguese F-86F skins and use those cockpit textures instead, either renaming the grey textures to match the Fernandez ones, or editing the description.lua to use the Portuguese ones.

Let me know if you need any help.

Cheers!

those SAAF skins are awesome.

Glad you like them :) If you or anyone you know has access to any of the surviving Mk.6s on display there's still a few stencils that need translating to Afrikaans :)

I have redone(for me personally) all your lua files some days ago and now you made them.

Man it was a nasty and long way! I just know how hard you guys are working.

Never mind, was a good experiance.

Thank you Jocko for your work

I really appreciate it!!

I would like to thank jocko417 for helping me out with lua files. He actually did all the changes for some dozen of the planes (problems with bort placement textures).

you are great, man!

NEW: 23221 - Centennial

DCS%202016-06-14%2014-52-36-49_zpsko2x7gp4.jpg~original

In 1967, Canada celebrated it's centennial. Sabre Mk.5 23221 wears a special centennial celebration marking as well as the then new Blaze Orange search markings, and hybrid nationality markings consisting of the old RCAF roundels with the new Canadian flag. Eventually the RCAF roundel was updated to include the same leaf as the national flag.

The Sabre was officially retired from RCAF use in late 1968.

Jocko, it seems that installing Your CAF textures causes the game to load them as defaults in all instant, tutorial, single etc. missions in 1.5.3. What might be causing this? Can it be avoided?

Art, if you are referring to this thread in the Belsimtek forum:

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=168564

He never said it was Jockos skins, in fact they are installed where Bo Nidle and most other skin makers instruct users to install them rather than in the CoreMods folder as Jocko's instructions do.

I suspect that it is the location of skins in the folder people make themselves in the bazaar folder that might be the problem given the results of his trouble shooting in the linked thread.

I have also noted that my default skin is not the USAF one now but the Canadian Air Force skin that Belsimtek included in the last update, not one of Jocko's.

So, it appears that if you have any skins in the bazaar\liveries\f-86f folder it will interfere with your default skin.

Caveat emptor, I am not at my computer so can't test.

Errr.... Did You link to the thread You really wanted? Cause it doesn't seem to be in BST section, and it's not about liveries either :D

Anyway, I haven't been using any custom F-86 paintjobs lately, but I tested the symptom by installing one of Jocko's skins in bazaar and voila - the CAF livery became default one in all missions. Since I'm not the enthusiast of custom skins affecting stock content (and that certainly wasn't the case with Jocko's skins a couple of versions ago), I'm just curious where I should put them to avoid this side effect.
