more of a "problem"

there's a "weight on wheels" switch (or equivalent) with the guns ---- ie.. you can't fire the guns while on the ground

how about the same restriction for chaff and flares??

i move the controls through their full range of motion as part of my preflight and i can't tell you how many times the stick bumps into my thigh, hitting a button on the HOTAS (the emerg flare button) and....... crud, i needed those!

thanks!

It would. The weapons option is not an additional gameplay feature, but is modelled only for these planes that have such a switch IRL. I don't quite think we should add simulation of gamey functionalities the actual plane isn't supposed to have.

What aircraft are you talking about? A-10C maybe? Not all aircraft have weight on wheels weapon safety. It depends on the very aircraft and how it works in real life. Why do you arm your countermeasure dispensers on the ground already? Keep them turned off while you#re on the ground and you won't have that problem.

Indeed, if you use correct procedures, you won't be negligently discharging stuff and ending up getting courts martialled.

I'm definitely with the "make it real" fraternity. If the real plane does it, we need it that way in DCS World too.

It's not in his signature but he's in the 65th and they fly the F-15C exclusively so the CMS standby isn't modeled or at least not that I know of. In all of the FC3 aircraft you can pop flares on the ground from what I've seen.

That I wasn't aware of. It was posted as a general observation, and nothing about a specific airframe was mentioned in his post.

I guess until the ASM aspect of the F-15C is taken care of then it will remain an issue. Is it worth fixing something minor like this when there are bigger plans for the F-15C at some point?

Wouldn't that been down to how each plane is wired?

of course of course

if we're talking "realism" here, none of the ordnance on board can be discharged unless the aircraft are first armed by ground crew, an operation that occurs near the entrance to the runway ---- accidental discharges are thus minimized

its just a request - and i think it would be an intelligent (and warranted) modification

and yes, i do try my best to operate as realistically as possible - it is in the process of following realistic procedures, cycling the controls to ensure full free and correct control surface function, that once in a while, the stick pushes up against my leg and the flares get fired off, that's because spacing available between the throttle quadrant, as mounted on the obutto r3v chassis, in conjunction with the TM:WH stick with JS extension ---- in order to fix it, i would need to move the throttle quadrant outboard by about an inch - but i don't have the tooling to do that, i would need to employ the services of a metal fabricator again (i needed a clients assistance to mod my cockpit setup)

so.. just sayin - if there was a simple "weight on wheels" check (or even simply landing gear handle check [up or down] as is the current situation with the gun) for the ch/fl, that would be great

For the A-10C, Keep master Arm and Counter measures system on standby until airborne.

I know you weren't aware and I wasn't ripping on you for it.:smilewink: We're friends with the 65th so I knew what airframe he was referring to.
