I am posting in this forum because this is not DCS related, it happens elsewhere also. Feel free to move if needed.

Video is very bad, i recorded with my phone, but you should see what the problem is. I get this weird picture. I could describe it as tearing, but I don't know. It is happening at 4K resolution on relatively low end computer, but I also noticed it at lower resolutions. Does anybody know what is the source of this? Bad HDMI cable or low end graphic card (GTX 960)? It also happens with 1080p youtube videos. I googled a lot but couldn't find any info for causes of this phenomenon.

yeah that looks like screen tearing, enable v-sync see if that helps.

V-sync is enabled. It looks as it is doing fine at 30fps, it is running at full 60 only occasionally. No fps drop bellow 30 is seen with ingame fps counter when I provoke this tearing.

This is not my computer, but I am trying to figure this out because I would like to go 4K sometime soon. Is it possible that low end 4K tv connected with HDMI cable isn't capable of drawing all frames? I would blame low power of CPU&GPU, but 1080p youtube video at 30 fps isn't really hard on PC and it also makes some tearing.

I would first try with good HDMI cable, but there are none available locally.

Hmm..I am not sure then. I have never experienced this kind of screen tearing that V-sync didn't fix at 1080p. I have very limited experience with 4k so cannot comment on that but there are allot of very experienced people on these forums that will know more that should comment after seeing your video. Sorry I couldn't help but hope you find a fix

It's adorable that You've added a soundtrack even to a 6-seconds clip :D.

Anyway - first - Alt-Enter to make sure the V-Sync is really working, second - 30/60 sounds like adaptive V-Sync with half-frames mode is set in NVidia control panel. You might test other modes (I use simple adaptive only), but occasional tearing on adaptive WILL happen even when the rendering drops below 60 and I'm sure it does when trying to play 4k on this underpowered card.

^^^ This! If you are on win 7.
Or Win10. The simple test I do is to change the volume roller on my keyboard and if I see the volume bar overlay the screen in DCS then I know that I have not hit Alt Ent to come out of Windows mode.

LOL, I too have been doing that for some time now - it is how I always check to be sure.

Yeah, well, I am an old dog and you know how that new trick thing works. :P

You should have seen how long it took me to start using the scroll wheel on the mouse and I still never remember to use it for sideways scrolling. :)

WINDOWS key does same thing if you dont have such extra keys like Volume on your keyboard...and I am pretty sure my Logitech VOL control keys work either way with Logitech's own pop-up.

Yeah, it can be tricky to find out in what mode you currently are after hitting ALT-ENTER a few times LoL

Weirdly I never had to ALT+ENTER after switching to Win 10, only had this issue in Win7.

That was the sound from the PC trying to produce 4K image:lol:

I will try alt+enter when I get to that computer. We are also desperately trying to get quality HDMI cable to try, since I still think that might be part of the problem. Thanks for the tips about checking full screen mode.
