OT: Open Falcon is out

Can't believe this has passed our community - the Open Falcon mod for Falcon4 has been leaked and is all over the net! What this mod does (for those who don't know) it add's a very important missing feature to this sim - a fully functional and clickable 3D cockpit, yes, that's right, no more of that old 2D paning around!!!

 

I don't know about 6DOF from this video:

 

 

but if it's supported, i'm gonna start to cry because I don't have it yet :cry:

This is something they should unlock into Lockon is the roll movements and they shouldn't be a problem with the cockpits graphics. we have the z axis already.

was a falconeer for many years, but the FM just puts me away, I liked falcon 3 way better. I still have the 4 for avionics pedagogic purposes only.

OF was leaked out, it was not in the consent of the team. Especially with LP threatening lawsuits again the release of OF (regardless if they did have the power or not). That is why I said do not provide any links to the download here. If you look over at frugals forum, several OF threads been closed due to this reason.

Yep, OF is leaked beta. It has an easy one-click-installer (basic F4.0 required), reworked avionics (new com's and datalink are the biggest changes) but many things are unfinished. There are no knobs and switches in 3D cockpit (you can see that on this video too) and some differences in functionality between 2D and 3D cockpit. It has also much bigger system requirements than 'other' Falcons.

 

It's sad to see how great amount of work is being wasted. :(

There've been many different flavours of Falcon over the years. This is just another irrelevant one especially if LP continues to develop it. LP has the advantage that it can continue to develop and their version will be the only one that counts.

I thought this pit thing was something that was going to be released for AF. I never heard of falcon OF nor that it was leaked.

Well actually I'm now addicted to AFs Flight model, its just awesome:thumbup: . I think its a combination of the improvements over the last couple of patches that make it that much better than previous versions and mods. The only thing I don't like is the online lag during close formations or online MP inflight refuelling, I just wish that tanker would stay still(either that or I butcher my throttle and make a more sensitive movement.:joystick:

I'm not saying viewing the video is bad or anything, I'm saying providing a link to the download is. that's why i pointed out if a pirated link does show up, this thread will be closed.

At last weekend I have had some exercises with OF. I much liked, especially new 3D cockpit with Track IR support and avionics improvements. There are some graphics artifacts and bugs but it is good forward step in Falcon development.

I paid no regard to flight-model. I was shown that it does not differ from old. Can be some factors have corrected but base is old.

 

P.S.

IMO This sim it is necessary to value not for flight-model. There is ensemble other interesting things.
