Hello,

I want to set a markpoint on the ground, so I can use my Mavericks.

1st: how do I set this markpoint so it does not move.

2nd: How do I slave the Maverick seeker to this point ?

Can I use "V" on the keyboard ?

Thanks for patience and help !

Select TAD as SOI -> Move cross over desired location -> Press TMS Up short (i think), then make the newly set markpoint as target with TMS Up long -> make Mavs SOI -> press and hold V

Mark points don't move after they're created. I think you're referring to the targeting cue on the HUD. The targeting cue is square and the TGP indicator on the HUD is a diamond.

You can use the targeting cue to make mark points but it isn't really all that useful in my opinion because it's not accurate. The better way to use it is to slave your targeting pod and the mavericks to that cue so you can use better sensors to refine your search. When your HUD is SOI, use the TMS up long and China Hat forward long. This will slave the TGP and other sensors to the cue. As you're flying towards the target area, move the cue around and you'll see that the TGP will move with it. Then make the TGP SOI after you've found the general area of the targets. If you need to create a mark point with the TGP, use TMS right short. This way, if you have to exit the battle area you'll have a reference to where they're located.

You can slave all your sensors to a mark point but you'll find that you'll still have to refine the TGP sensor. Once you create a mark point, select MRK on the steerpoint selector and make the TAD SOI, then you can put the cursor over it and then do the TMS up long China Hat forward long while that mark point is active and slave your sensors to that point again. Mark points are stored in the CDU just like waypoints. If you create a bunch of mark points you can cycle through them using the UFC steerpoint rocker and make them active just like waypoints.

Just to expand on what Striker wrote......Once you make a mark point a steer point, you can use CHINA HAT AFT LONG which will slave your sensors to the steerpoint.

I wanted to add something. I don't use the Targeting Cue for the most part. I rely pretty much on the TGP because it can do everything you need and it's all self contained. I look at the TC as mostly a redundant system or fallback in case the TGP is damaged. I'm sure that other people use it so don't take that to the bank. Just in my case I don't.

I have the Steer Point Dial mapped to my KB - x for Flight Plan, s for Mark and d for Mission, so I can easily switch them. Also have the Steerpoint Up and Down mapped to a and z. Make a Mark Point or three and switch the Dial to Mark and go play.

I find it hard to attack a static object which I placed in the ME. When in the air, at maybe 10000 feet it`s hard to find that object again.

So the question is:

Can I create a markpoint with exact coordinates. Because I placed the object myself, I can read in the ME where it is exactly located.

In this example 41 Degrees, 48` 7`` and 41 50` 30``.

If I`m thinking of something impossible, tell me so.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can create a waypoint (give it a good name, too) and you can select it when the Steerpoint Dial is in the Mission position. See the A-10C Flight Manual, Page 458. Putting in the coordinates of the object will get you close to the it, but not always spot on such that you could drop a GBU on the location and hit the object.

Hello,

I followed the manual by the letter:

Elevation OK

Latitude OK

But whenever I put in a Longitude, I get "CDU input error"

???????????????????????????

Any idea what I do wrong ?

And btw. If I finished successful, how do I select that new waypoint?

When you're ready for a more advanced technique try this.

Dropping multiple JDAMs in one pass

1- Create separate markpoints for 2 targets near each other.(A,B)

2- As you approach on bombing run set HUD as SOI so you can toggle markpoints. Ensure markpoint (A) is selected. SPI should be on that markpt.

3-When bomb release cue appears press and hold weapon release to drop first bomb

4-Quickly toggle to markpoint ( B) and bomb release cue will appear again. Press and hold weapon release to drop second bomb.

I have a question about markpoints too. Is there a way to delete them to help declutter once you've taken out targets?

In reality you do not need the TGP slewed to perform this.

CORRECTION

I originally stated TGP should be slewed to markpt. Not necessary but a good idea.

2- Have TGP slewed to one markpoint (A) as you approach on bombing run and set HUD as SOI so you can toggle markpoints.

Deleting mark point cannot be done in the version/Suite we fly. It is implemented in a later Suite, can't remeber wether it is 7 & 8. But not in DCS

Cheers
