crazyeddie Posted November 8, 2017 Author Posted November 8, 2017 They are sitting right in the water as per the model we got from Turbo Tape Games, matched to the paint job of the plimsol line etc. They are very high sided ships, much higher than say HMS Ocean or the American LSA's, so I think the dimensions are about right. Not really sure why that is, but considering what they are and what they do, they need a large hangar below the flight deck, and they are really quite slim for their class, so much of that height must be used up in embarked troops messdecks. Then you have the dock facilities below all of that, it all adds to the height. If you look at similar ship of that class, such as the Australian Canberra class they are also very tall slab sided looking ships. Would be interesting to see if the dimensions are absolutely correct, not sure how to do that, will let you know.

When I get an answer from somebody in ED about the helo landing problem in DCS2 I will release HMS Ocean. For the moment I dont know if its my Mod or the game causing the problem. I say 'when' ... its probably more like 'if ever' ... too many versions, too many problems, too much correspondence to trawl through just to check the simple things, I despair at times. Ed

This Mistral mod is cloned over the helo carrier mapclass, so anything the in game ships can do this mod can theoretically do the same. GT.mapclasskey = "P0000000634"; Categories = { {name = "Armed Ship"}, {name = "HelicopterCarrier"} Last week I was playing around with this trying to fix the AI Landing problem in DCS2 and I tried changing the mapclass to this, the in game aircraft carrier attributes. GT.mapclasskey = "P0091000065"; GT.attribute = {wsType_Navy,wsType_Ship,wsType_AirCarrier, "Aircraft Carriers", "Arresting Gear", "catapult", It didnt work, the game froze and crashed every time, so I moved on. So, again theoretically, if the Mod could be made using the Aircraft Carrier mapclass you should be able to multi spawn, it should follow all the same rules as the in game carriers. The only problem I see with that is the Mod ships might take up the in game landing spots and take off spots and we might not be able to adjust those, so you would end up with a small helo carrier using the large Vinsen take off/landing spots, most of them off the actual Mod deck, and that's just not practical. I dont play MP Missions so I'm not really sure I understand what you were getting at, but does that sound about right. I can't do that stuff, but I know a couple of men who might be able to try a few experiments, tell me what you think.

crazyeddie Posted November 11, 2017 Author Posted November 11, 2017 Update 3 uploaded today, changed the hull skins to look more like the real ships, hatches in the right places, more or less, names on the hull, its just artwork, no new holes !! This will probably be the last update, not much more I can do with this Mod now. HMS Ocean on back burner for now, problem with landing back on in Normandy map, I think its the game, not the Mod, we will see..

crazyeddie Posted November 11, 2017 Author Posted November 11, 2017 (edited) Bloody hell, that has to be the fastest upload ever, I only posted it up at 9.30 and it was available just after 10 !!!! The problem with Normandy map is you can get a helo to take off from any of the helo carriers, the in game ships and mod ships, but they just wont land back on, not any helo, not to any ship, they divert to the nearest same colour airfield. I'm guess it's a DCS2 problem with that map, it appears to work fine on 1.5.7. Reported it as a bug a while ago but still no answer from ED.
