Giving away my 5GHz i7 SandyBridge CPU 4 free

BitMaster

Recommended Posts

Since my motherboard went dead last Thursday I am giving away my Intel i7-2600k D2-A7 ( best stepping there was ) that runs on 4.8/1.35V-5.0/1.40V GHz if you own adequate cooling.

Since I have no 2nd Socket-1155 motherboard I cannot test the CPU but I am confident the CPU is intact, anyway, it will come for free.

If you own a Socket-1155 Motherboard plus good cooling I am willing to give it away, aka send it to you worldwide ( if customs etc. allow.. need to sort that out once we know where it goes to ).

So, please apply :)

Hello BitMaster.

Thank You for your generous offering.

I have a 1155 socket Mobo. A Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4-B3 with a slower i5 Proc but with a good cooler , so I would be happy with an i7.

Thanks in advance.

BINGO !

There you go mate :)

Mail me your details in PM and we can arrange the shipping.

Totally unsure tbh !

For DCS a Z-97 based 4790k is all you need I guess BUT it could well be that the new 7700k that comes soon will surpass ( finally ) the old King of single thread..and already at 4.5 GHz.

Need to look a bit, save some bucks and then decide when the Z270 hits the market

FYI: I only DCS on this rig, for work I use Mac and basically any PC/linux/mac I can grab that runs VPN and RDP, so I can taylor this ONLY for MY game ;)

The road I will go as soon as 2.5 is here and it becomes clear which gpu is needed to run @high settings. Till then it's Bootcamp for me.

Watch the fans inside your Mac...I am just ordering a new "left fan" for my MBPr15"

as the sqeeeeek gets worse and worse...LoL the price you pay for misusing a 2.01kg laptop for DCS.

My iMac is under warranty until 6/2019, so I don't have concerns about overheating or other hardware failures. And most propably it will be replaced with a new one late 2018.

K guys. Thanks for the kind, the funny-jealous :D and for the congratulation messages what I got in PMs.

CPU is on the way. BitMaster just left the post office. :) Big thanks to him

Some people asked what will I do my "former" i5 processor.

Unfortunately I don't know yet. Not decided yet.

If the i7 CPU is arrived then I will need to run some tests on it.

AFAIK sometimes a faulty Mobo can damage the CPU also, so first, I will check that.

Hopefully the CPU is intact as BitMaster wrote.

After that I will need to reinstall everything. I guess. Windows, DCS all programs.

I don't know yet what will need/cause the new processor.

If everything is OK, probably I will giving away my "former" i5-2500K CPU for free, as well as BitMaster.

But no promises now.

Sorry, my sim-companions.

We will see what future brings.

No need to reinstall Windows because of the cpu swap, but I think you need to deactivate all your modules in DCS.

yes, deactivate

and...if you own 10, bind it to your Hotmail account to have one more way to activate/deactivate it from certain hardware and have an easier re-activation....read google about it before you void a win10 lic !

Still, I would sooner or later do a fresh 10 install, it certainly pays back over time.

same?

100% same pal !! :)

you are lucky hehe now clock the hell out of it :D

P.S.: All I did to OC was raise the core Volts in Asus AI Suite to 1.35 for 4.8GHz. I did not need to change ANY other setting but this.

You may enable those OC functions on the mobo, LLC etc... to modest settings, "extreme" settings for those Auto-Volts and Spectrum Changers often will yield a less overall overclock on this CPU.

Just some tips how mine behaved on my board

i've been at 5GHz for sometime in summer, back to 4,5. seeing what happened to your MB, i think i'll better stay on the safe side for now, can't afford new hardware atm :D

I think, I ruined my board cause I didnt put the VRM watercoolers on it 18month ago when i put it together. The constant higher Volts on those parts must have taken its toll, looking at the standard heat-transfer mushroom like tape I dont wonder anymore and do know now why I will watercool them in the future, just to make sure I have a good quality heat-diss-tape between the VRMs and whatever cools them down.

I made my choice and will go with a Z-97 board and a 4790k chip, thus keeping my 16GB ( 2x8 ) 2400er RAMs and will be thru with 380€ net.

X99 is too old and has many mixed reviews...only makes sense with 6+ core CPU's which I dont want for DCS.

Z170...nahh the 6700k is not my choice either, DDR4-2133 is same or even slower than my 2400 DDR3 afaik and the 4x NVMe...well...I just bought half a dozen 850-Pro SSD's for all machines..I dont need NVMe for now, skip it, rather more RAM, double up to 32GB :)

I really hope I am fortunate with the Silicon Lottery on that 4790k....most dont really overclock well :(

Aiming 4.6+ at least or I am slower than with my 2011 CPU LoL ( Intel, wth are you doing ?? )

At 4.8 or faster on my 2600-k I could see my 1 core not being maxed out, hitting another limiter I guess, so I'd assume anything 4.5 or faster is over the ridge and wont get faster.

Something else limits it. I am no coder and no DX junkie but its gotta be somewhere in that corner.

atm 6700K costs less than 4790K here in finland, so if i had to pick one now, i'd pick newer tech, live next 3 years in pain (until waranty runs out) and then delid cpu lol or pick used and no-waranty 4790K and delid now )))

I am not sure if delidding is my way, I will have to review more I guess and if it turns out that it's mandatory on the 4th gen but not on 6th gen Skylakes I will surely reconsider my choice and bite the apple with DDR4 but therefor get a wc mobo right away off the shelf, those arent available anymore for the z97 sadly, neither amazon or big vendors have them instock. Adding one later on is like 120€.etc...warranty...better buy directly the right thing...I am biased as you can see.

..delidding a brand new 350€ CPU...I dunno...rather not 1st time
