B2Blain Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 I am trying to prepare for Black Friday at Amazon.com. Is there a large difference between GTX 1060 manufacturers? Thanks, Blain
Esac_mirmidon Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 I´ve bought a KFA2 GTX 1060 and i´m very very pleased. Great price-perfomance. Works great in 2.0 " You must think in russian.." 9.JG27 DavidRed Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 (edited) yes i bought a gtx 1060 10days ago...asus gtx1060 strix. im really pleased with the performance both in 1.5 and 2.0...maxed out both completely and get in 1.5 between 90-200 and above frames...i only tried with vsinc in nevada...but again, maxed out completely over las vegas and a rock steady 60fps.not a split second below 60frames. didnt try without vsinc though. but a tree top level las vegas ride with such a smooth performance is definitely nice. im glad i didnt go for an 1070 or even 1080. EDIT: oh, today i downloaded nvidia's new driver...i think 375.86? anyway, after the driver update i had in 1.5 all of a sudden sometimes even only 30frames and stutters...tried another install in case anything went wrong...still same crappy performance...so i reverted back to 375.70 and everything was fine again. just for your information. DavidRed, could you give me the rest of your system specs, such as CPU and clock speed, amount of system RAM etc? I've been thinking about getting hold of a GTX 1060 and you seem to really like yours, but I only have an older machine with a maximum of 8GB RAM, can't install any more. It's good and fast, but I wonder if a 1070 with 8GB VRAM would be better (I only run a single monitor at 1080p). Money is tight in my neck of the woods and I'd rather avoid the 1070 is the 1060 is fine :) Kit: B550 Aorus Elite AX V2, Ryzen 7 5800X w/ Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE, 2 x 16GB Kingston Fury DDR4 @3600MHz C16, Asus ROG Strix RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB, EVGA SuperNova 750 G2 PSU, HP Omen 32" 2560x1440, Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS fitted with Leo Bodnar's BU0836A controller. --Aviation is the art of throwing yourself at the ground, and having all the rules and regulations get in the way! Retu81 Posted November 26, 2016 Posted November 26, 2016 I bought a Zotac GTX 1060 6GB version without the fancy cooler. Now I'm waiting for the damn thing to arrive. Amazon's carrier lost the first delivery, the replacement should be arriving on Monday if everything goes well.

Thanks! It seems you're using a pretty nice system, I have an old Q9650 @ 3.6GHz (will go up to 4.0, but my card bottlenecks, so no point right now). I'm considering a 1060 6GB, but would prefer the 8GB 1070 since I only have 8GB of system RAM. The cash situation isn't so hot on my end :) Actually, my old computer runs DCS quite well, but I'd really love a lot more VRAM. Ramstein Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 I just ordered a Nvidia Gigabyte GTX 1060 6GB ram. my wife needed to replace her video card, the pny oc CARD HAS A BAD oc PROBLERM CAUSING ctd'S. I am giving her my Nvidia card and I am going to use the new GTX 1060. I am going from a 680 with 1 GB to the 1060 with 6GB ram. I had no problems with mine, but might as well use the new one. I really want a new joystick, but it keeps slipping away. Still using my old Saitek X52 pro. I am anxious to see if I will see targets better, and not such long loading times with the new video card. I miss the SSD in your rig, that causes the long loading times ! The forum is full of threads with guys changing from HDD to SSD and they all love it, you will love it too !!! I have a few old spare systems and on one I tried to load it from HDD just for fun...oh man...you just cant compare, like heaven & hell. Both 16GB or more and i7's btw, just the HDD that causes a huge DELAY loading anything from A_Z.
