After the last update I noticed something with the Mig 21. The plane feels like and exhibits the characteristics of slow flight, no matter what airspeed your at. The controls are mushy, for lack of a better word and they just shouldn't be. Now, let me say this isn't coming from how I "think" a plane should feel. It's based on my personal and professional experience from flying everything from a single engine Cessna up to multi engine passenger jets. I'm just hoping LN can take a look at it and/or tell me why the 21 is like this after the update. Let me also say that I love LN's products and is in no way me trying to say anything negative.

Apart from overcritical flight regimes issues, discussed in other threads, I'm a bit puzzled by noticeable roll instability, which doesn't quite go away even at high airspeeds and low AoA. On the other hand I've got impression it's not as bad in 2.0.4, as it is in 1.5.5 (?).

Well seeing as how one of the leads for LNS is an ACTUAL mig21 pilot and the planes FM has been developed not only from the pilot bit from REAL aircraft flight data I am not questioning in any way the validity of the FM. I find it fun, exilerating and challenging always putting a smile on my face.

Know and use all the capabilities in your airplane. If you don't, sooner or later, some guy who does use them all will kick your ass.

I have no knowledge of aerodynamics much but i love the new mig . except some roll sensitivity issues i don't find anything else wrong with her. She is the true gem of DCS. Are there any better sounds for her ?

I think we have yet another case of LN being wayyy behind the drag curve of DCS updates..the Mig before and after the latest patch are radically different..since the patch i agree the Mig has turned into a wallowing dog that damn near unflyable.

If it was that simple, we would be having a fully functional ASP sight by now, and the FM not changing with every patch during last few months. Using Your somewhat flawed logic, one could even justify the very first FM of this module as well, after all Novak was an actual pilot in September 2014 too, wasn't he? ;). Being a good pilot doesn't automatically mean being a perfect programmer. I we were not asking questions about how the module works, we wouldn't be getting anywhere.

We're getting new FM features for sure, and that's great, but neither I nor You know if they're refined and fixed for good or they're going to be tuned further. If something seems to be off, why not ask questions about it? For example, I'm a bit puzzled by the fact that standard spin entry procedure (power/throttle idle -> level stall -> full stick back -> full rudder) is almost guaranteed way to get an engine flameout in current FM, while the real manual doesn't mention such an important aspect (I know it's caused by close-to-zero G, but still, that makes you think if everything is modelled more or less correctly).

Since it's been released 2 years ago, flight model got multiple, even several, pretty serious back and forths, and lead developer has always been said MiG-21 pilot all the while. So yeah, I'm not sure of the validity of your reasoning there, which I myself held earlier too.

Don't get me wrong I still like the module but, I'd love it's features to get stable at some point...

To my knowledge LN MiG 21 DCS is the only model who tested active professional fighter pilots, but as you said Art-J, the question is how much of that experience Novak can be successfully applied to your project.

Novak in action:

- With his colleagues test the model in a tactical classroom::

- The first solo flight on MiG 21:

- Simulated combat alert on-call time:

Sorry for my bad English.

Well if you actually read the updates and looked at Novaks history you will see a large amount of it was combat logged hours in various conflicts....and as for the FM "changing" that's the whole point of development. It's constantly improving and being refined and honed. The most recent has been additions to high and critical AOA conditions/ limitations. If you didn't know already.

The FM has changed more than a couple times in the last year; Leatherneck was not so confident in the validity of the FM as you are.
