I am close to finishing the campaign and love the Mirage M-2000C. The voice-overs and engaging unique missions allow for a versatile experience with the M-2000C and all it's French glory.

The only part I didn't enjoy is the broken missions and wish the developer would fix these minor bugs due to patch updates. I'm not sure why the module is available but there is no support from the developer? 

This would be the best campaign if the bugs were fixed, and made me fall in love with the Mirage. Keep up the great work @baltic_dragon and please fix the bugs.

There are a few missions if you don't tell your wingman to RTB he will crash to the ground when you land. I'm not sure if that's intended or not. This is why I got 80% in a few missions when that happened. We shouldn't be penalized for other people's mistakes, other than that I was pretty successful with 100% down the board with a few missions skipped (5,9).

The summary of my playthrough of Caucasus campaign in November/December 2021

- Mission 02 and Mission 08 - broken, runway access blocked by AWACS, had to fix the mission file myself. At least one of those missions have been patched since I played them.

- Mission 03 - instructions for ILS approach are wrong, the aircraft currently requires QFE, not QNH for synthetic runway.

- Mission 04 - the Tacview replay shows that I've actually been fired upon by the friendly aircraft I was supposed to practice with. I don't think that was the part of the script. 

- Mission 06 - the lead aircraft just casually crashed into the mountain after performing the gun strafe attack.

- Mission 07 - you are given waypoint coordinates via radio - ONCE. If you miss it - tough luck. No option for "say again", or the usual text with coordinates that lingers for a while. I actually had to Alt-tab out of the game, search the mission playthrough on youtube and copy the coordinates from the video, in order to not spend another hour replaying the mission. 

- Mission 10 - something doesn't add up between voiceovers and what's actually happening in the mission https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/286784-mission-10-escort-duty-number-of-enemy-aircraft/#comment-4823652

- Mission 13 - plain simple makes no sense with the current implementation of IP bombing in the aircraft. Overall, eight out of thirteen missions had various issues. I can appreciate the effort and production values, but like everything in DCS, it seems to fall apart when you try something more complex than the simplest stuff.

Thanks, I was busy with a lot of other things, but will be returning to this campaign and fixing all the issues, thanks for the report!

Some things (like friendly aircraft behaviour in M4) can't be changed as I have to use certain tricks to make things happen... others are linked to DCS AI behaviour I don't have much control over. In any case, I'll see what I can do to update the campaign!

Well, the AI behaviour (like: crashing) is something I don't really have any control over... but I promise I will get back to the campaign shortly and give it some love, fix the bugs and perhaps even change some things completely!

I just wanted to say thank you for the mirage campaign ! I really enjoyed it a lot and it’s very immersive. It ticks all the boxes. I just wish it was longer 😄


I would buy the mirage just for the campaign…

ps: I only had 2 issues that were blocking. The awacs you need to delete (found info on the forum) and something with the landing tutorial. Not sure if that one was my fault or not, but something did not trigger correctly and I got 50 score and then just skipped it.

And I have to say, that I was quite disappointed with the comms I received from E-2 AWACS.

  • not calling NEW PICURE, but "heads up"
  • BULLs call called like: Zero-Six-Zero-Four-Two-Six (060426) - there much better way to call it used by US pilots and C2: "Zero-Six-Zero TwentySix"
  • calling BULLs format but target direction of flight given as "HOT" and not as "TRACK" with cardinal direction. HOT used mostly with BRAA call, which I miss there because of ED script limitation I expect.
  • mentioning 2 groups, but not the relative position of those two groups ("RANGE" with nm value).
  • missing information about number of contacts in each bandit group - VERY important for such task to ensure, that there is none untargeted/non monitored bandtit posing major threat.
  • call to MONITOR is just for to keep radar tracking of those groups - could be done on very long distances. It does not imply the readyness to open fire when declared as HOSTILE. Yeah you can open fire right away after HOSTILE declaration , but only when eqiuped with long range A-A missiles. 😄 not this case with just MAGIC missiles.

The communication could be called like this:

"Chvalier, heads up, picture, 2 groups tracking South, range 5, South group bulls 060 twentysix, tweleve thousand, bandit, North group twelve thousand, bandit."

"Chevy 11, Chvalier, mission VID South and North group, South group (-BRAA call script-) 2 contacts, North group single contact."

"Chvalier, Chevy 11, copy, mission VID South and North group"

("Chvalier, Chevy 11, contact BULLs 0-6-5, twentyfour, twelve thousand, DECLARE" /// "Chevy 1-1, Chvalier, South group there")

"Chvalier, Chevy 11, JUDY, standby for VID"

"Chvalier, Chevy 11, North and South group, VID Tiger"

"Chevy 11, Chvalier, copy South and North group ID F-5s, mission SHADOW both groups, estabilish SHOOTER position North group."

From the mission:
"Phantom Lead, bandits are almost on us, we are bugging out!" - it seem that AWACS forgot to Retrograde/RTB Phantom group, may be the E-3 crew is bussy right now enjoying fresh hot coffe 😂

"This is Phantom Lead, we are taking losses!" - WHAT is this call??? its like from some Hollywood movie 🤣 E-3 crew will face very serius consequences for not warning Phantom group when bandits reached at least the threat range or Merged if not the Retrograde call. Why the AWACS crew didnt declare both groups as HOSTILE when they manuevered in WEZ possition on friendlys?

"Chevy 1-1, engaging Bandits" - Bandits, and which bandits?  i expect that by common ROE, if the bandits engaged friendlys - now they are automaticly declared as HOSTILE! so no more Bandit call. Should be like this: "Chevy 1-1, engaging South and North group, both HOSTILE"

"Chevalier to all players, bandits are bugging out" - Why AWACS call "to all players"? if he is not addressing the call with any callsing, we all know that the message is for everyone on the frequency. Why the hostile bugging out is call by AWACS? Chevy 11 or 12 should be the first ones noticing that fact and therefore call that for AWACS.

"Phantom Lead,copy, Show Phantoms RTB." ?Show? which show? 🤠 i thing I missed something.

"Chevalier, Phantom 11, copy your last. Break, Chevy 11 you are cleared to RTB." - If you need to divide message for more than one flight leader, you need to call it twice! "BREAK BREAK".

In mission 13 i think there is a missunderstanding regarding laser code. The one used by the pointer is the default used by the mirage. Don't do like i did the 1st time, setting laser code 1668 while the engine is off, because it is stated 1668 in the docs and briefing 🙂

I don't understand. first I can't find laser code stated in briefing. second, the kneeboard has a default 1688 laser code. What you said was do not change the laser code from 1688 to 1668? I was in awe when I can only obtain the laser code from Ghost through com but unable to change it mid-air. Any help?

very nice campaign in Caucasus. really enjoyed the immersion and as a frenchie, I loved that the french pilots had the accent (some of them attrocious even for me)

only encountered a few bugs and I think the last mission would need an update following the CCPL PI system update. The IP update on WP5 never registered and I had to do a standard CCPL profile but it worked.

 

Also found out the difficulty to engage a Mig 29 with fox 3 when you only have fox 2s under your wings.

 

great campaign, I already bought Red Flag and Raven One to work on!! Please do more Mirage 2000 C campaign in the future, it's my favorite land based plane

In France, and I think it's actually the standard international rule since french aren't the only one, numbers are never read on the radio as numbers but as a string of digits to prevent missunderstanding.

the reading "twenty-six''  is in fact a pure US (maybe canadian too) exception even in civilian aviation.

in fact considering how often French people will confuse Thirteen and Thirty... (and actually all the -teen and -ty) better not use those who are non-native english speakers

I am doing the Caucasus campaign and I like it very much so far. I have just done mission 5 ("The traitor") and have a few questions :

There is no radio dialogue once I shot down the traitor in L-39, except for one short RTB from the player, is it normal ?

Additionally, at the end of the mission I landed correctly and taxied back to the appropriate spot but only got 75 pts, what did I miss to have a perfect mark ? I shot down both QF-4 with one Super-530D each, I shot down the L-39ZA with a Magic missile, I returned to base as instructed, landed and taxied back at the correct location.

The 2 free campaigns are very nice, I really apreciate the voice acting. I also like the complex radio management on the " coup d'etat" campaign. I think it's a good training to the red flag.

Unfortunately, on the caucasus campaign the 2 last missions are now a total mess.

 Mission 12  on the way bak to vaziani the airport is now attacked by the 4 Mig 29 (fight with Berger). The migs wreak havoc on Claw4 (and me) while they are landing.  Don't I supposed to be in the friendly SAM area ?

Mission 13 just after droping the GBU I get shot on my 6 by a mig poping in the middle of nowhere with no time to react . ( I have follow all the waypoints to the target) 

 

Coup d'état mission 1  a group of trucks is supposed to go from the north on the crash site but they never come.  (I have open the mission in the ME. the truck are time coded so maybe I was too early over the crash site)

 

Can anyone confirm this behavior in the last missions of caucasus campaign ?

EDIT: Oh and 2 years after, the blocking AWACS in mission 8 is still there, but it's just a quick edit in the ME done in 30sec so it's ok 😉
