Zabuzard Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Hey there, my DCS keeps crashing whenever I switch to the BER master mode seconds after touchdown (touchdown -> thrust reverser -> complete stop -> BER -> crash). One time it didn't crash but freezed for about 30 seconds. When I wait and first taxi to my parking position and then switch to BER, it worked. Before I add mission data, crash dumps, start removing mods for problem isolation and try to repeat the problem more than just 3 times - I'd like to ask if anyone else also has this issue?
Los Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 After landing when I taxing to my final stopping area and go through my engine shutdown routine, I switch to BER mode and have not had any problem. Does it say in the checklists to switch to BER mode right after complete stop or engine shutdown? I dont remember.
grunf Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 I did have a few crashes after I finished a mission and parked, but I assumed it was just random CTD. The last time it crashed I messed with the master mode selector. I'll try to reproduce it and post the logs, I don't have any mods to uninstall. :D
nomdeplume Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 I consistently get freezes for a few seconds when switching to BER, but haven't had it crash. Normally I do this on the ramp, but I think I've done it while still on the runway with the same result.
david.lind Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 I've had two DCS crashes when turning to BER when taxying of the active, and normally there's a large (singular) stutter associated with the switch to BER. (This as a Multiplayer host) Presuming it's writing something, most likely the recon stuff for the kneeboard.
Los Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 BTW I did test switching to BER in the air and didn't have a crash..if that helps isolate things.
grunf Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 Could it be that only longer missions are affected? I've tried BER a few times today, but only after short missions, no crashes. When I had crashes it was always after longer missions (about 45min). And there's a similar report here.
RagnarDa Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 Do you think you could post the crash-report (and maybe the dcs.log? If you have started dcs a second time since the crash the old one will be saved as dcs.log.old). You'll find it in %SAVEDGAMES%/DCS.openbeta/logs . The file would be named something like DCS.openbeta-2017XXXX-XXXX.crash (the time of the crash). This would be extremely helpful. Thanks! DCS AJS37 HACKERMAN There will always be bugs. If everything is a priority nothing is.
grunf Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 Maybe not related, but I had another crash during shutdown after a longer mission (cca 40min). It crashed when I shutoff the high pressure valve and tried to open the canopy (didn't exactly folow the proper procedure :music_whistling:). The master mode was still at NAV. DCS didn't create .crash file (neither did at previous crashes), so I'm including windows log instead, and DCS log. Hope it will help.dcs.zip
ctguy1955 Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 I have no idea what BER is, but I did a search for "Thrust reverser" and this was the only thread that came up. What jets in DCS have thrust reversers ??? Thanks
Mikke_EAF331 Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 I have no idea what BER is, but I did a search for "Thrust reverser" and this was the only thread that came up. What jets in DCS have thrust reversers ??? Thanks Well, you have found the only flyable module with thrust reverse. :music_whistling:
TOViper Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 What jets in DCS have thrust reversers ??? Thanks Viggens have. BER is a master mode in the Viggen, like NAV, ANF, ... kengou Posted April 15, 2020 Posted April 15, 2020 When switching to ber after landing, the Viggen is building an elint report from your rwr data throughout the sortie. That’s what is going on when it freezes for a short time. Long complicated mission means it might freeze for longer. After it freezes, you can see the report on your kneeboard and it can be used to generate a mission cartridge to attack known sam sites.
