Dave317 Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Is there an RWR volume control? It gets a bit noisy especially as there is a bug at the moment that picks up radar emissions through mountains.

The UK DAMPNING knob on the left vertical panel (just aft of the throttle, I believe) turns it down. Zabuzard Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Does the knob work? Did not for me (at least when turning it with the mouse)
grunf Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 It doesn't work, and there are no keybinds for it.
Zabuzard Posted February 15, 2017 Posted February 15, 2017 Imo the default sound is extremely loud. First thing I do is setting it to "lights only". Not a good solution, I would really like to hear it - just quieter. Please repair the knob :)

Especially if it uses a crystal video receiver. (based on that time period, it likely does) The mountains likely reflect more energy back into your RWR, just as they do your radar.

The problem is as follows. Lets say i get locked up by something like a shilka. After it locks me i dive behind terrain. It will still maintain lock for a long time(or the RWR will indicate so atleast), ive had cases where it had me locked up for 30+seconds (and many KM of separation) with no line of sight between me and the Shilka in question. The same thing occurs with other radar types as well.
firmek Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 You might be wright. I've seen a few times in M2000C that radar maintained lock on a target that flew behind the mountain. Maybe not for 30 seconds but still for a noticeable duration. I guess it might be a general, core DCS issue. I don't think DCS models radar in that way, but even if it did, that shouldn't happen. The RWR of course filters out the own aircraft's emitters, and there's also an explicit "mute" signal from the radar to the RWR to prevent detecting your own emissions on transmit.
Dirty Rotten Flieger Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 This definitely needs a working volume control. It is way too loud now
