I have all the other skins 5 in all ready but I can seem to get rid of the black square where the flag once was. Checking my temp texturers folder all I have in there is an empty.png file, no empty.tga, but my liveries file has empty.tga in it as above, and the flag is gone leaving just the aircraft skin colour. You can just see the shape of the texture file, so its reading a texture file of some kind. So, try this, pull out a copy of the file c130-fon+flag.bmp and plate over the flag bit in the same base colour as the C17 airframe of it then drop that in your temp textures folder, flag gone. That's what I appear to have done, the only drawback being it removes that texture from the US C130 skins as well, but in that case I painted the flags back on where I wanted to and used empty in the description where I wanted the flag removed for the C130. The empty tga and png files do not appear to work on the C17, might be something to do with the age of the model, its original and very ancient after all. You could also try putting an empty.tga and an empty.png file in the temp textures folder and try both of those in the desc.lua. As the game evolved the skinning methods got more varied, some things work in one update but not the next, then they would stop working, then they would work again, I gave up trying to keep up. Sometimes they work with .png added to the desc lua, sometimes you have to drop the .png or the .tga bit, you end up pulling your hair out trying to figure out whats working in this update in this version, and all three versions of the game can be different. Otherwise its easy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Edited May 17, 2017 by crazyeddie

Its not part of the c130 flag bmp. Obviously i have the DCS C17a on my pc. Where do i install these to? Mods / Aircraft? For main globemaster? Then for mods?
ggrewe Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 Hi Drop the unzipped mod folder C17_Globemaster_III_(V.2.8) into your Saved Games Folder (not the main DCS game) Should be on your C Drive, normally C:/ ..../ Saved Games/ DCS/ Under DCS folder, will have a sub folder "Mods" & under that "Aircraft" folder, drop the unzipped folder in there. So full string would be: C:/ ..../ Saved Games/ DCS/ Mods/ Aircraft/ C17_Globemaster_III_(V.2.8) The downloaded liveries can be dropped into the C17_Globemaster_III_(V.2.8) / Liveries / C17_Globemaster_III folder. Suggest using a mod loader like OvGME or JSGME, if you are going to use multiple mods Hope that helps

Just to answer the above: -Link to the C17-Globemaster mod above is the ED website User Files section, which has a size limit for mods (+/-300MB?) so if you read the link, the Modder has an external download link C17_Globemaster_III_(V.2.8).zip (448M) So use this link to go to direct download. Links to some Mod Loaders / Guides -JSGME, pretty old, but relatively simple. The Ultimate DCS World JSGME Guide - If you use mods, you need this. -OvGME, now disc., but I still use. Using OvGME to apply & manage Mods -OMM, latest, but I haven't tried yet. Open Mod Manager Search function is also quite good on this site, if you want to get more info. Hope that helps
