I follow you guys with solutions if I encounter negative issues. You guys usually find workarounds to that end.

I follow this guy's advice, usually weekly as to Windows Updates and such stuff.

https://www.askwoody.com/

I have a Windows 7 machine and probably will not upgrade until I build a new machine. My Win 7 Updates have been going smoothly, lately.

So, how is it going with Windows 10?

When I build new, I always get Ed Bott's "Windows Inside / Out" for troubleshooting.

Running it on over a dozen machines, not problems so far, nothing that I would blame 10 for.

DieHard, depending on ypur current license and if you wanna keep it ( Retail ) on the new yet to build machine....I would either way install 10 on your rig and revert to 7 instantly, JUST to reserve your 10 license for free. Match it with your MS account and you can use it on any machine.

This does not work with lics from dell, hp, asus, etc... only SystemBuilder and Retail allows this.

...saves you 150$ +/- for 10Pro

shoot me a PM if you have questions about this "legal" process.

Can't say it's worse that 8.1. Also, at this stage, and with dx12 becoming pretty important for other games, windows 10 is a must

No issues whatsoever. Been running on Windows 10 since it's release date. First on an upgraded install and later on a clean one. Actually after the upgrade I've noticed a slight performance boost but a part of it the stability is the same if not better compared to Windows 7 or 8.

The only thing that I didn't like is the simplified UI. More "advanced" features are either missing or harder to reach. Another thing is the "apps" mess - just the idea to substitute proper PC applications with the cell phone "apps" is absolutely missed and on top o that systems comes with a lot of this apps bloatware installed by default.

One great thing however is the startup time - my Windows 10 PC is up and running already by the time when my Windows 7 laptop thinks if it's already a good time to display widnows logo or give me a more time to make a coffe.

With even cheapest SSD you can got win7 up-n-running in 20 secs after BIOS loading. Even if you got win10 in 10 seconds - it not worth a dime with tons of "user experience improvements" you will be forced to use.

However all of us have to admit that W10 is our inevitable future.

You can use certain 3rd party software to stop the E.T. in Win10 calling home:

Spybot is one of them that I myself use, also DWS ( Destroy Win10 Spying ).

DWS also allows you to DEINSTALL apps that you cannot get rid off the normal way.

There are a few good YT vids from knowledgable developers that seem to now what they are talking about. I will post that link if I still find it, he worked for MS for 15y and he's got a lot to say

about 10. Worth the 25min watching.... lemme check if I still find it....
