I have my GTX 1080 pushing 2 displays and fly DCS in single monitor only. Roughly how much fps am I losing by pushing the 2nd display? I read that it's supposedly negligible but would like to know a number regardless.

I mean it still has to draw that display and whatever is on it even if it's not graphic intensive so there has to be some kind of performance hit.

If I installed a second gtx 1080 what would be the performance improvement by connecting the second non DCS display to it. Either that or running in SLI? What about a lesser video card for 2nd display? Could I even run a 1080 and a 1060 together?

My i7-6700k is really just coasting along at 4.4ghz overclock so with a second card I don't think it would have any issue giving instructions to the second 1080, not sure though.

If I were to install a second SSD and run DCS on the SSD without the system would I get a performance increase? Again CPU is just coasting so should be able to handle the extra read/writes...

Just looking for a way to get a few percent here and there.

There would be no performance increase. SLI is not supported. I ran 2x780's until the 1080 came out. I can tell you that you will see 0 performance increase.

I doubt also that running a second SSD as you have suggested would increase your performance unless the new one has variables that make it so but i'm sure it would be so small you'd never notice.

SLI or Crossfire is also a drain on CPU resources.

I disconnected my second card stored it as a spare.

Just keep your system clean and healthy from the OS point of view and buy a Samsung or Seagate SSD

It will give great performance and read/write access speeds.

Or external sound option to release more from CPU/RAM usage.

Find performance tweaks from other places if possible sound is usually a big drain if using MOBO chips directly maybe a good sound card?

I already have an 512gb SSD that only has Win10, DCS 1.5/2.0, Trackir5 and TeamSpeak3 on it and a 1tb HD for storage. My computer is only used for DCS as I do everything else on a Mac Pro. So comp is pretty clean and lean.

It's not true that SLI won't give you a performance increase. I ran SLI with DCS World for a few years and it makes a good difference on fps. Maybe about 15 to 20%.

You do however need to change the appropriate settings with nVidia inspector.

There are glitches and stuttering to deal with though and I wouldn't do it again.

I have run 2 monitors for a number of years, if there is a performance hit it is very negligible. I have always gotten very good performance in my games with my rig, also added an Oculus Rift in January and still get very good performance.

If there is a hit, I do not think it really is enough to even visibly notice it.

Another option. Unless the moniotors that you have are great, instead of 2 displays get a single one bigger, ultra wide with a higher resolution.

I am using a combination of Oculus CV1, a 24" monitor (1920x1080) and an ASUS GTX 1070 8Gb. I found out that you can boost performance for the Rift best by reducing the resolution for the monitor as secondary display. Setting the monitor´s display resolution to a minimal 1280x800 (with the appropriate display ratio of 16:10) leaves most performance to the Rift.

So, as long as ED doesn´t explicitely say that DCS will take advantage of Dual-GPU configurations, it´s the only way to minimize load on the graphics card.

If someone knows a way (if there is one at all) how to make DCS turn off the secondary display, please let me know.

A single 4k would make more sense than an UW.

Depends what is your preference. I would still prefer 34'' 3440 x 1440 over 4k as it's possible to get an IPS panel with 100 or 144 hz and G-Sync. Others may not pay so much attention to panel technology, refresh rate or adaptive sync. The resolution should not be the only decision factor when looking for a good and rather expensive monitor.

Even if you don't go 4k I would prefer a 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio over the UW. The reason is that, unlike a racing sim (for example) in which the action occurs mostly in the same horizontal plane as the player, a flight sim requires more attention in the vertical plane, which you lose a lot of with the view on an UW monitor.
