Havremonster Posted July 5, 2017 Author Posted July 5, 2017 Your AV is to much like a women get rid of it :) I have never had any problem with Norton antivirus before and i'm just happy it allert suspicious behave on my computer. Guess that is the point having an antivirus right? I just want to know what this is before I continue or cancel the update. Thats all.
Coxy_99 Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Its fine just disabled AV for the update and turn it back on after.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted July 5, 2017 ED Team Posted July 5, 2017 It will be a false positive. But will you say Windows Defender is better than Norton?
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted July 5, 2017 ED Team Posted July 5, 2017 I have no clue whats the best antivirus. But will you say Windows Defender is better than Norton? I only use windows defender personally, but I am very careful about what I do on the web. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Havremonster Posted July 5, 2017 Author Posted July 5, 2017 I only use windows defender personally, but I am very careful about what I do on the web. So am I. That's why I got surprised why I got the warning now. I never had that before using updates from here. So of cause I had to ask.
Art-J Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Norton AV is "legendary" for being paranoid and throwing false positives left and right when updating various games. But asking here just to be sure is a good way to go. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Coxy_99 Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Yep i also do not use AV, Only naughty sites will get you viruses lol :P
Oscar Juliet Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Norton and McAfee... LOL Thats about as much protection as a condom full of holes. Also the people here that don't run AV or anti-malware are so special. Connected to the internet period can allow a threat into your machine. When you brick your PC or get ransomware... lol...told ya so. I use Sophos Home and Malwarebytes. My Youtube Channel
Havremonster Posted July 6, 2017 Author Posted July 6, 2017 Yep i also do not use AV, Only naughty sites will get you viruses lol :P Well, I did not think a DCS update was so "naughty" LOL :)
USSInchon Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Well, I did not think a DCS update was so "naughty" LOL :) Ask some of our significant others that question.
FragBum Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 Ask some of our significant others that question. :megalol: Nuf said,.. :music_whistling: Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment. Gazelle Mini-gun version is endorphins with rotors. See above. Currently rolling with a Asus Z390 Prime, 9600K, 32GB RAM, SSD, 2080Ti and Windows 10Pro, Rift CV1. bu0836x and Scratch Built Pedals, Collective and Cyclic.
Sporg Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 I have no clue whats the best antivirus. But will you say Windows Defender is better than Norton? I will say that almost anything is better than Norton (maybe except McAfee..) It is a serious resource hog, it digs deep into the operating system, and on top it doesn't seem to protect properly anyway. Those times I've helped people with it (some of them with malware on their PCs) I have uninstalled it and installed Avira AntiVir instead. People have been amazed how much more snappy their PCs were all of a sudden (myself included :D ). I have been using AntiVir for a long time now and can recommend it. It has some of the fastest updates when new viruses break out, and you do not feel any impact on performance on the PC. The free version has a pop-up once a day but is otherwise fully functional for virus detection etc. The paid version has some extra add-ons that are not really necessary IMO, but you avoid the pop-up ads. System specs: Gigabyte Aorus Master, i7 9700K@std, GTX 1080TI OC, 32 GB 3000 MHz RAM, NVMe M.2 SSD, Oculus Quest VR (2x1600x1440) Warthog HOTAS w/150mm extension, Slaw pedals, Gametrix Jetseat, TrackIR for monitor use
garyn123 Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Hi ... I'm having the same issue (norton antivirus finds a virus, sonar.am.c!g9, when I try to update my version of DCS 1.5). Can you tell me how you resolved your situation? Thanks, Gary
