Hey good Pilots,

I'm having trouble installing mods or single missions via the forum. I'm really interested in flying BD and DB's new Training mission 1 as I'm really keen to see it and also just about completed every other Campaign, so something fresh would be nice. I'm having an issue when I go to d'load something, up pops uTorrent and that inhibits me from installing it to the right place and I don't know what to do about it. I'm no puty geek but I just manage to get by but this has got me stumped so any help would gratefully appreciated. I've left a few screen shots of what I encounter as I try to d'load this file. Regards G

Since you placed your .miz file in Mission folder (Windows 10 - C:\Users\USERNAME\Saved Games\DCS.openalpha\Missions) it is now ready. I am not sure what you are torrenting there, but if you start DCS2 now and go to Missions menu, Baltic Dragon's mission will be there. Observe the path, maybe you just need a little bit of navigation to the place where you saved your mission to.

Might seem stupid, but do you press Save As... (from the Internet Explorer drop down menu at the bottom, choosing down arrow to the right from "Save")? If you would, I don't think Bittorrent would be interfering with download. It only does if you press "Open", and you have .miz extension assigned to Bittorrent to work with... :music_whistling:

Thanks a bunch Razor, yes mate I def chose Save As and chose the correct location for where the file is to go but I thought it was uTorrent causing this problem. I'll keep pluggin away at it. It seems to open (UTorrent) exactly like it does when I begin to d'load a movie but as that screen shot shows it encounters an error you know.( you see the little uTorrent logo next to the file name? is that the problem? ) I'm boggled

I don't remember, but torrent (and other) programs have their option for "File assignement", meaning which are the file types meant for them to be opened with. Suggest go to your torrent program's Options or Settings page, look for File assignment, and if you see ".miz" there, uncheck that box. Then try again. Try also downloading to any other place on your PC, then you can copy to the final destination after you have it downloaded.

Again, thanks Razor, too kind. I'll try that..

Just don't use this torrent software to download - I used IE to access this Google Drive link and downloaded fine to my folder. Once downloaded, make sure you are selecting "My Missions " in the Mission menu in DCS and navigate to the location where you saved your file.

If you are still struggling with it, PM me your email and I can share this mission over my OneDrive if that helps at all.

Thanks kindly again for your input Gierasimov and Razor also. Well, I drew a blank in the uTorrent settings and preferences, there's nothing there that relates to unchecking any boxes to stop miz files being torrrented and I forensically checked and rechecked, like there's plenty of options to ADD but not untick or uncheck or remove and I also rechecked the ingame DCS missions and still couldn't find that file that looks like it's been added. And to your point G I can't seem to stop UTorrent from taking over when I d'load items like this. I'm not sure how to stop it, soon as I click on "save t" or "save" up pops uTorrent and asks to open the file and if I chose no then nothing happens so I'm kinda stuck. If you or anyone else could remote assist then that would be great and then you would see my dilemma first hand. I mean sure I could uninstall uTorrent but then how do I d'load my flicks? Anyway, I'm still scratching my head with this thing.

OK, buddy, I can help you remotely not a problem. We can connect online even if that is needed at all, but first, let's start with the basics.

Let's try this:

1. Left click START menu.

2. Type: Choose default apps by file type (usually it is enough to type first few characters)

3. Click on the Choose default apps by file type that was found in step above.

From there locate .miz > I think it will be assigned to Bit torrent.

To remove this assignment >

- Click and select other application such as 7 ZIP Manager OR,

- Click Start and type: Default App Settings > go to BitTorrent and deselect .miz OR,

- Go to your Mission Folder - right click on any .miz file there and click Open With... > select 7ZIP Manager (or another ZIP handler) and select Always use this app to open .miz files.

* If you don't have the miz file yet, you can create an empty one in DCS Mission Editor.

This will fix it. The problem is BitTorrent is assigned to this .miz file type.

IF NOT:

Your Operating System - is that Windows 8x or 10?

What is the default browser that you use? Again I suspect this is IE, right?

Hey your a legend Gierasimov! And you won't believe this one but I went back into my folders only a few mins before I read this post you left and thought I would give it another shot so I drag n dropped that file (the one I left a screen shot of with the BitTorrent icon next to it) from my missions folder into the campaigns one, went back into DCS and BAM! I found it! looking under My Missions.. there it was Justin Armstrong 124th blah blah the real deal Holyfield! Too late now for me to give it a whirl but tomorrow first thing, it looks sooo sweet this one, can't wait. And I'm def going to try and get rid of that BitTorrent, so thank you again for posting those tips there, I very much appreciate it and it looks like files can still be added even with the alien BiTorrent attached but I prefer not.

Dam I love happy endings, Cheers, G

Good stuff man! I knew you'd find it sooner than later.

Mission itself is an example of how things should be done, mind you this is a beta so if you find anything, make sure to let BD know in that way he can perfect this and remaining missions for all of us :)
