Hub Posted August 5, 2017 Author Posted August 5, 2017 My biggest problem is freezing/ pausing during the game. Found I have a HDD drive. Would an SSD upgrade help this? And how easy is that to install? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
iVVChewy9141VVi Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 If you upgrade your Processor your going to have upgrade your motherboard. Also if you upgrade to Z270 your going to have to move to windows 10 unless you use a 6th gen processor and slip stream the drivers into a usb Your budget would help a lot.
Hub Posted August 5, 2017 Author Posted August 5, 2017 Is this I5 not enough then? I don't know where my problem lies. I have been reading posts all a.m. Trying to figure out. SSD ? Processor? Overclocking? I would say I have average computer abilities. I appreciate the feedback Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A new mb/cpu/vid card would certainly help , but just be aware currently DCS 2.1 is still very much an early Alpha product and Normandy especially is very demanding. I myself am holding off till probably sometime next year, but if I were upgrading today I would probably go with an I-7 7700k cpu, closed loop water cooler to be able to run it upwards of 5 GHz, and at least a 1070 GPU, 1080 if swing it. I have a 1080 Ti and love it. I am not up to snuff on current motherboards, am sure others will steer you in right direction on that. I would also go with 32 GB of ram. Might as well byte the bullet and get a totally new system. The new cofee lake 8700K model comes to mind. If it cant wait then AMD's R5 1600 is the winner. It'll save him money .
Hub Posted August 5, 2017 Author Posted August 5, 2017 Budget/wife can't get a complete new rig. Was hoping to tweak what I have .Sounding like it might not be an option . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pilotasso Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 (edited) Then Ryzen might be the option your looking for. But you still have to buy at least MOBO+CPU+RAM. R5 1500X plus a B350 motherboard might just fit your budget. Make sure you get a qualified RAM kit for the board your getting. EDIT: yes, an SSD would improve your gaming experience regarding stuttering and micro pauses. Edited August 5, 2017 by Pilotasso .

Where would I make best gains to upgrade? Your weakest component is the graphics card and the 12 gb of ram. Most bang for your buck would be to change the vga for a used gtx 970 ... even a gtx 770 would increase your fps by 50%. Your 12 gb of ram Should be upgraded to 16 if it isnt too expensive, but first change the vga. mvsgas Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 To whom it may concern, I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that. Thank you for you patience. Many people don't want the truth, they want constant reassurance that whatever misconception/fallacies they believe in are true..
BuzzU Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 What an annoying video. I couldn't take more than 4 min from that nerd. Buzz
Reflected Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 Your rig is better than mine in almost all aspects. There's one thing you can do for relatively little money: buy more RAM. You want at least 16. Then try and tweak your gfx settings (disable MSAA and AF, and force it through the nvidia CP). Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
