Hey all,

I am very excited to say I have finally purchased an Oculus Rift! I am so excited. The $399.00 bundle is such a great price.

Anyways, I always fly DCS at my desk. Monitor about 1.5 feet in front of my face, HOTAS at my sides on the desk itself.

I have been reading the Oculus sensors need to be 2-5 meters away? Since my desk is not 2-5 meters in depth, this would not work.

Does this mean in order to fly DCS, I need to find a new area to fly? Or can I make the sensors work if I place them, say, 2 feet in front of my face?

Thanks!

hi! you will love your rift, it changes everything imo :)

In fact, you only need one sensor, the second sensor is needed for handtracking (which doesnt work in DCS yet).

However, having the second sensor will improve tracking, when you look down and to the side for example.

I would run the setup and you will see that its ok to place them apart, it does not need to be 2 meters, I have mine about 120 cm or so apart and about 60 cms from my head, it works perfectly

Single sensor, 80cm ahead and off to the the right about 50cm. Works like a charm.

- Jack of many DCS modules, master of none.

What I did was get a little thin and narrow table (kinda like a night table but a tad taller), placed it behind my desk and put my rift sensors on it. That way I have my sensors far enough while still being able to use my desk normally.

I have both of mine on my desk as well. They're about 3 feet away from my face, and about 3 feet apart. Works fine...

99% of the time I use them for DCS, BoX, and War Thunder (Tanks Only), without issue.

Both of mine are on my desk, app 5ft apart and around 3ft back from where I sit. Angled slightly inward, they have always worked wonderfully for both seated and standing ( other games).

Just one sensor in my Spitfire cockpit 3ft from my face. Works perfectly. I swing it round and it works with a second wall mounted sensor for other games requiring the touch controllers.
