I'd like to see a stronger emphasis on naval warfare, RAZBAM's ships are a step in the right direction.

And Harrier needs its natural environment. :D

Uhuh....but are they coming with the Harrier, are they seperate DLC, are they at a similar state of readiness and to what extent?

I'd very much like to use one of these ships for the Harrier as soon as i get my grubby mitts on it, is what i'm really saying, with the implied follow up questions of when and what!? :)

I think it might be an asset pack, given that on the deck of one of the carriers they showed a bunch of other units like Snatches and Ospreys. Though that might have been for scale?

Then again, a plane module that comes with a smattering of bonus AI units would be a nice competitive edge.

Would like to see:

Panavia Tornado

Panther AS565

English Electric Lightning.

From memory didnt Razbam say they will be included within the module price.

I just looked for that post in the Ships poll and another related thread and didn't find anything. Only https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3053767&postcount=62

I've got a feeling, that the amount of ships there totalled in all the posts is significant enough for this not to be some "giveaway".

I'm a little bit anxious, because if it's DLC, there's going to be the expected backlash. I'm not getting into that argument, stuff doesn't appear from the sky by magic and someone's time was spent making the models which, I have seen a development of one ship and this is not an easy thing by far. I remember the amount of fiddling I did just to get a broken SA7 sometimes working and more often, not.

Plus, all those different weapons systems and weapon models have to go into it. That's core engine. This is before folks start going on about which hangar door or elevator can open or shut.

So I'm scared it will not materialise.

From memory didnt Razbam say they will be included within the module price.

I would be interested to hear one way or the other.

Speaking personally, I have no issues with having "quality" DLC. It's somthing I really wouldn't mind paying extra for.

Main problem is not paying for the DLC. I personally would pay whatever they asked. The worries about this issue are from another nature.

When a module like the harrier is released it's also available in the core game. If you have it you can fly it. But if you don't have it people can still join your game. A plane module can always be added to the mission as playable, static or AI. And only the people that want to fly it pay for it.

The problem comes when AI assets are being added as DLC's. You can not put these assets in the core game. Cause if you do then the DLC becomes obsolete. But if you don't put them in your core game, all other people need to buy those extra assets so people playing online can actually play together. Otherwise you are stuck with a harrier on the default Kuznetsov or the default US counter part. Not all people will buy the harrier that comes automatically with those AI units. And especially not on release date.

On day one when i bought the A-10C/Mirage etc etc i could play with everybody that had vanilla DCS.

On day on when the harrier releases all the players that don't buy the harrier can still fly with their buddy's and other randoms that have the harrier. Until a mission maker decides to put in one of those ship assets. And why not. It's cool he paid for it and it and you make fully use of the immersion all these goodies bring. And you payed extra for those units so you would not want those units to be used by people that did not buy the harrier (harrier=assets). Same as you don't want the harrier to be flown by people that did not buy it. And there is alway's that some in the group you want to fly with that does not have the harrier = no extra assets.

And there is where community fracturing starts. MP is already not a crowded place. All these new modules and maps will certainly make online more popular. But you defeat that right away with the above structure of distributing extra units.

But there are solutions. Some very crude some less crude.

1. Make the extra AI assets you get with the harrier low quality models for the people that only have the core game. > A very crude solution that i personally not like at all.

2. Make so that other people that don't have the harrier can't land on it. Basically you can't already cause it has no catapult or cables. But people will try and succeed anyway with any plane. > Useless solution.

3. Make a message pop up every 10 minutes in the middle of your screen asking if you want to buy the assets you don't have that are used in that mission. > Now this would be plain disrespectful. And extremely annoying. But very effective. Made me buy all DLC's for ARMA 3 and i don't even use half of them.

4. Give those extra assets special functions only the people that have the harrier+Assets can use. Like ship interieurs for the carriers, ability to use some ship defenses or the ability to use the carrier as a war room so you can plan your flight there. (directly controlling the ship would fall under CA anyway) > This would be a very elegant solution. But requires a lot of extra work and coding i guess. And moneyzz that you need from us. I would say hell yes to that.

I hope this clears it up a bit.

***The GPS device DLC is a non issue in this matter. You can have it and others that don't have it can still fly with you. I think that is a very good way to bring something special and still make money out of it.***

Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.

There are a lot of mod servers though in on-line gaming, one I am playing (Vietnam FPS) I had to download 3GB of steam workshop maps to play my favourite servers, but there are "vanilla servers".

My thoughts are that DCS World should be a priced engine, doesnt have to be a $40 or $50 dollar one, but it shouldnt be free, that way maybe ED will have some money to pay 3rd parties who develop AI assets that can go into the core game.
