Just started this, after figuring out the .skins file (somewhat, I replace the sixth skin):

Yeah that's true, but since I don't know the whole process it's going to be like that until I get around to figuring that stuff out.

More work:

yeah, with the Hornet you can add as many skins as you want... I'll post a brief tutorial

I've found this, it's a excerpt of a post made some time ago on the ubi forums... can't remember the author

Hmm, I could try to show one simple test example for "C-130"...

Preliminary notes:

- used CLSID is generated with external tool (appears to be functional with LockOn-engine)

- new modified texture (in my case only color-tones changed) is "C130-green.bmp" (in "TempTextures" subdir or in any other created/defined for similar purposes)

- important are "ID=5" and "value = 0.5;"

- "C-130_okras" is the name of "DXMesh - DXDefMaterial" property/group in shape file "C-130.LOM"

//------------------------------------------------------------------

// Insert following stuff into appropriate place (after last "ColorScheme" section of "C-130" plane definition in global "Planes") in "MEInit.xml" file

// Insert after this line: <ColorScheme Name="Standart" ID="3" CLSID="{e168a397-dbd6-4ffd-a15c-438229d31797}"/>

code:

<ColorScheme Name="Green C-130" ID="5" CLSID="{4D3734D2-1787-40d7-8A8F-D96804EBC386}"/>

//------------------------------------------------------------------

// Insert following stuff into appropriate place (after "USAF Standard" "ColorScheme" section of "C-130J" plane in USA country part of global "Countries") in "MEInit.xml" file

// Insert after this line: <ColorScheme CLSID="{dd2aefff-6bea-44a4-86ac-7222e4cb6720}">USAF Standart</ColorScheme>

code:

<ColorScheme CLSID="{4D3734D2-1787-40d7-8A8F-D96804EBC386}">Green C-130</ColorScheme>

//------------------------------------------------------------------

// Insert following stuff into appropriate place (after last "skin" section) in "C-130.skins" file (LockOn_root\Bazar\World\Shapes)

code:

skin

{

value = 0.5;

material = {"C-130_okras", "Standart", "C130-green.bmp"};

}

//------------------------------------------------------------------

Warning: this is UNOFFICIAL test stuff without any warranty...

Suggestion: wait for the patch, maybe ED-developers have spent some spare time even with their new "skin-system"...

I don't remember if I followed these steps, anyway I successfully managed to add some more skins to the hornet some time ago ;)

Thanks!

Do you think you could also put up a non modded .skins file?

It's a real one (VMFA-312 is a USMC unit) and this is one I found on the TwoBob's Decal site.

I agree with you =Prophet=, I kinda like the Bug too, and given some of the other sims lack of quality (Janes? I mean come on.....) it'd just be great.

This is where things start to go wrong... =Prophet=, if you can tell the devs this issue:

And possibly report it as a bug? I may have to adjust it, but it's weird how it's turning out, though I may just have to figure out another way of fixing that problem..

Thanks! if I had known that a mod would be done for CAW, I would have tried to have it included, so I'd say in a week I'd have this one ready.
