Great news to see this has been located and is being fixed, lets hope the fix comes soon!

Mind boggling how not a single tester found this problem beforehand and sorted it...RAZBAM might want to start looking for new testers in the future!

But...consistent 60FPS Harrier HYPE!

Great to see this found and fixed so quickly.

But man, several months of testing and no one even looked at the fps counter.

To be honest. Aircraft was extensively tested in 2.3. The FPS drop was noted but the aircraft always had over 60 FPS in cockpit anyway even with multiple aircraft/objects. So, it was not considered that big.

When ported to 1.5.8, with old graphic tech, then the problem became more acute.

BTW, problem is fixed and solution will be applied on next release.

That's on ED.

If the problem is fixed, Can't you ask the fixed files to ED and upload as a hotfix while the patch comes ? It has been done before with other modules..

Thanks in advance

I can feel RAZBAM's frustration from where I am sitting, that is a rough bug, especially in the context of 2.5 being weeks away. The day the devs can close the 1.5.x branch and never look at it again they are going to celebrate.

Well, not too soon hopefully, many of us don't have a system poweful enough for what 2.x requires ;)

It must be frustrating but it's apparently a potential problem they noticed, chances are with a more serious load (DLC campaign with many aircraft...) this would have come up anyway.

In any case, no one would expect an early release to go perfectly smoothly, it's just an FPS drop after all. What's already there more than makes up for that! :)

I have a low end rig, and my PC runs 2.1 just as well as 1.5.x

I'm guessing that if anything, 2.5 will be BETTER optimized. Hopefully that helps ease your concerns :)

I find that FPS is better on average in 2.1 than in any of the versions of 1.5, Although I do have a higher end system. Before I got it I did realize that 2.1 was unplayable with a laptop or lower end system.

I hope this bug can be fixed quickly!

That's surprising, but what do you mean by low-end? It's very relative ;)

Have you tried the Epsom campaign? For my part it's simply not possible. I have no big problems with a single airplane or even a few aircraft around, but there's a lot of stuttering with a full-scale campaign, and it's regularly below 20 FPS with periods of noticeable freezes.

Another example is the antialiasing: without it the performances are better but it looks very bad. With AA, unfortunately, the framerate is quite impacted. And this is permanent, even with no other traffic, it's just the scenery. From the long threads in which people were trying to tune the settings and improve that, I'm not alone to experience this.

It will surely be better optimized than now, for sure, but how much gain is left... a 980 Ti is not enough, and a recent processor is definitely mandatory. So if 1.5 can live a little while longer, I won't complain :)

As written in the official thread I have to confirm poor performance on Harrier.

With my setting i have a rock solid 60fps in both 1.5 and 2.1, with every plane i have (A10C, F-5, FC3) and in every situations.

Using Harrier my fps drops between 20/25 in cockpit view.

+1 Low FPS in cockpit

Posted

Cockpit textures are 4k x 4k, most modules are 2k x 2k. Am trying Ordenator-modified textures, which reduces total cockpit texture memory requirement by over half.

Cockpit still looks good, need more testing to see if frames are improved.

Of course, backed up original textures

ok seems to be fixed more than 100fps for me without VR

but the bug of spawn on LHD from group of 4 Av8 still crash

Yep much better now! However, it's time to upgrade my 920, that's certain. If, one day, Coffee Lake might become available. :cry_2:

I wasn't sure about the hot-fix so did not write a changelog. :smartass:
