twistking Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 The new explosion effects look really great, but just from watching videos and pictures, it seems to me, that smaller explosions (rockets etc.) are a little bit exxagerated in that they look very similar (identical?) to the explosins of heavy bombs. Do you feel the same about that? Are the new explosions still considered WIP? Maybe there could be a seperate effect for smaller impacts, not just differenct scaling of same effect. On real footage these smaller impact often look more like big fire-crackers that, while still producicing lots of sparks, smoke and dust (!), don't kick up that huge piles of heavier earth and debris... twistking Posted January 9, 2018 Author Posted January 9, 2018 i hope it's not frowned upon giving one's one thread a little *bump: So, is really noone else feeling that this is kind of an issue? Also can someone confirm, that the effects are still worked on? All i see is people praising the new effects and rightly so, as they are truly well done. It's just that they feel out of place for smaller impacts... My improved* wishlist after a decade with DCS *now with 17% more wishes compared to the original

WIP but then I agree with this too. :) Windows 10 Home, Intel Core i7-9700K @ 4.6GHz, Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 Gaming (8GB VRAM) on 34" LG curved monitor @ 3440x1440, 32GB RAM, TrackIR 3 (with Vector Expansion), Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, Saitek Combat Pedals, Thrustmaster Cougar MFDs.

=Mac= Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 I have some C4 and some tritonal in the basement if you want to compare the two. (Uh, edit: the basement used to be there. In fact, the whole house is now missing...) :megalol: The Hornet is best at killing things on the ground. Now, if we could just get a GAU-8 in the nose next to the AN/APG-65, a titanium tub around the pilot, and a couple of J-58 engines in the tail...

Real-world funny: A copper thief was in the basement of an unoccupied house, happily cutting away the pipes...turns out one of the pipes was the gas pipe, and when he smelled “something”, he.... Wait for it..... :megalol: Yup, he LIT A MATCH TO SEE WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM! The house was destroyed, but our intrepid thief was merely stunned, and was helped out of the rubble by the FD.

Ala12Rv-watermanpc Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 almost 2 years later I guess explosions are still "very much" WIP right?...they all look pretty much the same and far far away from these videos showing what they were "aiming" to. At the moment explosions last way too short time and don't cast any shadowing in the ground. Also they are way smaller than they should especially for big detonant loads as mk-84 for instance. How long will they still be a WIP thing I wonder. Take a look at my MODS here
