Vino Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Hi. Does anyone else have this problem? My track ir goes nuts, when monitors light reflects from my glasses to track ir sensor. Dogfighting is extremely difficult because I can not move my head upwards...
Mr_Burns Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Mine is shoite! Not bad looking about the forward cockpit but down in the cockpit and anything at 3 or 10 o'clock on the shoulder is garbage, I really hate it but it is better than not having it. Perhaps I just need to make curves steeper. Personally cannot wait to replace it with VR when it's got better resolution.
Emmy Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 One trick I use as a photographer to try and mitigate glare on glasses (and which would probably help with your issue) is to have the wearer lift their temples just a little to put a bit more angle on the lenses. If you're wearing a headset, the ear cups should hold the temples up off your ears by a little bit. If you're wearing a hat with the clip, try tucking your temples just up under the hat. mhe Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Have you considered getting a track clip pro or similar? The TrackIR not actively sending out light to be reflected but still receiving it from the active headset clip makes a world of difference for me. | i9 12900K | 64GB DDR5-6000 | STRIX RTX 4090 OC | LG 38GN950 38" | | Hanns-G HT225HPB | TIR 5 & Varjo Aero | Virpil Throttle & Stick | TM TPRs | You don't stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing.
streakeagle Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 The led clips are the solution. I haven't had any problem with wearing glasses since I moved to the led clip. The only problem is that forced me to wear a headset rather than just a ball cap. But having the headset with a mic encouraged me to use voice command software, which is another immersive feature when using it for comms... I say "Chief, turn on the ground power", then I hear my pilot's voice say the exact same thing, then the ground crew confirms my command. Likewise, "Two, engage bandits!" The headset with mic is also useful for multiplayer using TeamSpeak or other chat software. So, get some form of TrackIR clip with the three LEDs to solve your reflection problem and don a headset to support it. I use Natural Point's Track Clip Pro with no issues despite its relatively cheap/poor construction. Just avoid sitting on it, tossing it around, etc. and it will last forever like mine has. If it gets abused in any way, the plastic breaks as has been the experience of many a Track Clip Pro owner. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
mhe Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Well it looks a bit silly but you can attach the clip to a sweatband or something. Or even the visor that usually is used for active TrackIR. DelanClip for example would be easily attached to that and there are others that even would be wireless due to internal batteries. | i9 12900K | 64GB DDR5-6000 | STRIX RTX 4090 OC | LG 38GN950 38" | | Hanns-G HT225HPB | TIR 5 & Varjo Aero | Virpil Throttle & Stick | TM TPRs | You don't stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing.
NahkaSukka Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 I had the very same problem when i was using the standard TrackClip even with very light sunlight coming through curtains. But then i bought UTC MKII tracker which has IR leds and i havent had any tracking problems anymore.
JIMJAM Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I have a large 42 inch tv and it's to far away for trackir. I sat looking straight and then built up the base it sat on until it worked fine. Then cut a block of wood and dble sided taped it to it. It sits on a desk with the tv behind it at the right level sitting on a table. I eventually found a clear piece of clear plexan and the track ir now sits on it secured by shoe goo approx 3 ft from my head on that table. The head sensor is taped to the brim of a cap. Do what you gotta do....
Knock-Knock Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Even with the Pro-Clip it can be disturbed by another light source. I remember having a light source not far behind my seat, and when the room was dark, only TV and that lamp behind the seat on, TIR would often just point straight up suddenly. Turning off the light behind me solved that. - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |

Deezle Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Turn on the camera view on in the TIR software and look for stray light sources. Sent a screen grab to them and they warranty replaced it.
