...and you can see the new explosions in the video. I still need to check if damage modeling has already been tweaked, but from the infos during the last weeks I guess they still work on that.

 

There was a comment about working on fragmentation damage, in an interview with Wags, if I remember correct.

Thanks Shagrat, but I think he was asking about the explosions being created for bombs as these explosions in the video are the same ones from 2.2 and were mainly only for rockets.

Thanks Shagrat, but I think he was asking about the explosions being created for bombs as these explosions in the video are the same ones from 2.2 and were mainly only for rockets.
The new explosions (Dirt and debris) are especially for a vehicle exploding, thus if a bomb is a direct hit it explodes immediately.

With guns or blast damage, it may burn for a couple seconds and then explode with debris.

 

We need to test in detail, but from my experience during the last weeks it looks like it.

I just had a couple of hours in 2.5 so far, mostly testing and tweaking settings. To me it seemed like the "dirt and debris" effects are not visible if deferred shading is turned off. This might be why some people ask where the effects are? Can anyone confirm not visible "dirt and debris" explosion effects when DS is OFF? Or is it just me?

I can confirm that without DS on in the Alha the explosion effects were not there which I think is unfair. I wonder if it is the same in 2.5.

Confirmed here. The explosions in 2.5 look pretty good to me in DS. Without it, apart from everything looking washed out, the explosion effects are minimal. A fizzle of sparks, and a puff of smoke.

 

It may be just me, or are the blast effects greater than before. Trying the A10C Quickstart Spring Easy mission, I can take out both trucks and the soldiers on the second target with one Mav. Before, I always had to do a re-run with guns to hunt down the troops. Maybe I just got lucky ;)

I desperately hope they have adjusted the damage a little. Ultimately they want to look into fragmentation as well.

So is DS absolutely necessary to deliver the new explosion effects?

 

 

I love the new effect but can't deal with all the other issues of DS as it is right now.

I am now running 2,5 and I have DS turned on and still have no new explosion effects in Caucasus or NTTR in IA A-10C and AV8BNA missions??

 

What's up with this guys? Any ideas?
