Tried to use the ME this morning with 2.5 and finally gave up. Selected the Caucasus map and got a blue screen with air bases marked. After waiting awhile, no textures of any sort had loaded. I have always had a similar experience with 2.2 but the wait time, in this case, seems much longer.

How long is it taking for other people's textures to load into the Editor?

First, I don't know why, but ME or mission launch loading times are way shorter with deffered shaddings on (with DS off it's super long).

Second, as soon as ME is loaded, even with only blue map, you have to click an icon (for exemple load icon or any unit icon) and so all the textures appear. If you just wait I don't know how long it can be...

The textures load after about 10s. My specs are similar to yours, except I have i5 4460 cpu.

Thanks for the info, folks. I do have deferred shading on. I did click the Open icon, selected a mission, and it opened in the ME. But, after about 2-3 minutes, no ground (etc) textures had loaded. I'll have to play around when I have more time. Maybe this weekend.

Hmmm... I waited about 2-3 minutes with nothing happening.

Missions load fine from the main screen but I wanted to check something in a mission in the ME.

I noticed this last night, I have a high end PC with 24gb of memory and the game on a raid 0 ssd and I had to walk away and get food and a drink waiting for it to load, only to have it crash the first time, and then wait another 7 minutes and 40 seconds for it to reload. Even then working in it was really slow. Especially trying to change weapons loadout.

Try renaming your saved games folder, so that DCS recreates default one. Also try repair.

I'll probably do that over the weekend, if the issue continues. Like I mentioned, Nevada has always taken awhile to load in the textures. So maybe that installation had an issue that got copied over. I think I had done a cleanup and repair on it, when I first noticed it but, now, I don't remember clearly whether or not I did. Starting with fresh folders and a cleaned and repaired program can't hurt. :)

The initial load with textures took definitely longer than 2-3min. Afterwards, even after exiting DCS, the ME loads even faster than with 1.5.8, much to my surprise.

Ahhh... I had limited time this morning and wanted to get into the air over the new map for the first time. So I only gave it several minutes before bailing and loading a mission to fly. I'll try to be more patient the next time.

Same issue here. First time going through menus was slow. Switching from Georgia to NTTR was very slow. Subsequent attempts went fast.

This repeated when I deleted options.lua and metashaders, so issues with those files might be related.

I did this and can confirm the issues.

Loading of Caucasus map took around 4,5 minutes.

After first loading it was okay but when zooming it takes Around 5 seconds to respond again... No fun in the editor :(

Attach the DCS.log from a session of long loading into the ME. I've certainly had it be quite slow on first load, and it is much more magnified on my installs on a HDD compared to an SSD.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

First, this is what I'm seeing. After a reboot, the first time took a bit over 4 minutes. This is the 2nd time I went in and it took about a minute less (WARNING: Watching this is a bit like watching paint dry):

Log attached.

I'm going to play around with things this weekend, if I get a chance and see if anything I do makes a significant difference.

It seems my case is worst. After upgrading to 2.5.0.14304 the ME gets stuck in the loading screen and doesn't run. I left it for more or less and hour and nothing happened.

Before the upgrade, the ME was working, but with long load times as described in the first post.

I uploaded the dcs.log file in case it is of any help.

EVC56_Polten, have you tried a repair? your getting an error in the core me_mission.lua when it tries to create a new mission as seen here

I just double checked mine was still working given the latest update and it is so i'd suggest trying a repair on your install and seeing if that fixes that error

I forgot log file

Thats one ouch of a log file man.. you've a bunch of failed to create shader errors.. that lead to what looks like an access violation .. it's almost like something write protecting your savegame folder or something.. you've got massive amounts of this

2018-02-02 11:58:11.642 ERROR DX11BACKEND: Failed to create shader resource view for /textures/litdust.png.
2018-02-02 11:58:11.652 ERROR DX11BACKEND: Failed to create shader resource view for /textures/font_tiny.tga.

2018-02-02 11:58:11.687 ERROR DX11BACKEND: Failed to create shader resource view for /textures/colorlut_sepia.png.

that suddenly just hits the initscene for the me and bang you crash which would likely be (again not a dev here so shot in the dark ) that your dcs can't FIND/create the shaders it needs to build the scene and it triggers an access violation in the memory space.. that ones weird as hell.

Hi robgraham. I haven't tried a repair, but I uninstalled all the mods, and it worked again, so it is reasonable to assume that one or more mods are the cause of the issue.

Ok, I can confirm that the problem, in my case, was caused by an outdated version of the Coalition Update Mod by uboat and Grimes. I now use the updated version of this mod, available from https://github.com/mrSkortch/DCS-miscScripts/issues/1
