I ran a 4k on a pair of 290s. I was able to lower AA to 2x from 4x which made up some of the difference. Never dropped below 30fps. Switched to VR so.I don't have that setting config anymore.

SLI not working for me in DCS, so I'm running one card. 45 to 65ish fps @ 2-4xAA Without Deferred Shading. 30 to 45fps WITH DS / 2xAA. Multiplayer.

For the record, the dimensions of the monitor are irrelevant (you mention 43" 4k) for the sake of performance. 18" or 65", it will be the same resolution either way. 4k is 4k. 1080p is 1080p.

That said, a 1070 isn't apt to provide very good 4k performance in something like DCS. Other games, yes, probably. But not DCS. I'd suggest going with a high refresh rate 1440p monitor. Twice the resolution of a 1080, but not nearly as demanding as 2160p (aka 4k).

edit-

Source, I had a 980ti, which is extremely similar to a 1070 in performance. I have run 4k, 1440p, and 1080pX3 on it. It doesn't have the power for reliable 4k in most applications.

I've posted my performance with various settings in 2.5. Increasing from my 5MP to 8MP and downgrading from a 1080 to 1070, you could expect to get half the framerates I got. At my recommended settings you'd probably get a minimum of 35fps.

I've had been running 2600K@4.4 w/1080 and 24GB ram with a 40" 4k (I guess you are going for the 43" phillips, I have the older 40" model).

When I've upgraded I've done my best to get a proper baseline

https://pit.uriba.org/uriba/upgrading-from-2600k-to-8700k/

I assume your 1070 will have slightly lower framerate, but you should be able to extrapolate.

IMHO,

single 4K monitor on a 2600K is totally viable.

Another thing you can try, is to enable DSR on the Nvidia control panel.

for a FHD screen, X2.0 should give it a 4K render target.

you'll get exact results for your rig and current installed DCS.

4 X DSR is whats needed to get 4K (8.2MP) resolution on a 1080p (2MP) screen. 2 X DSR would only be 2715 X 1527 (4.1MP). 4K is 3840X 2160.

I'm running a 50" Samsung 4K ultra at 3840 x 2160 I think and running a second 27" touch screen @ 1920x1080 with Helios and get 50-80 FPS with A10C in multi player. I have a GTX1060 6gig. i7 6700K @ 4.2ghz and 16gb mem. The pic is me running BMS with the same 50" but with two touch screens running 1920 x 1080 as well. No issues. One of the touch screens is running on the onboard graphics.

If you say so. so it all depends on which scaling factor Nvidia has chosen to use.. I have no clue which :)

4k is 3840X2160 which is actually 1920*2 over 1080*2.

it's 4 times the area, but only 2 times in dimentions
