Night flying is hard for about any module with no navigation system, so the Gazelle depends heavily on NVG, and instrument lighting...

Or maybe that's just me. ;)

I am the same at night

My problem is that we have no sense of inertia which in all flying is a rather key sensation, however when you remove sight it becomes rather crippling to not have.

I'm also not overly keen on the new NVG style cos I don't believe it represents wearing goggles by just having a circle, a slight ellipsis, or two of those circles overlapped would be better.

I digress, by having absolutely no vision in those models of the gazelle it's just impossible to fly without editing the config especially with 2.5 and the darkness that comes with.

Muh immersion n realisms says keep it off and incorporate some kind of inertia meter of sorts for helis without NVGs but that's a lot of effort and coding to make work and then a lot more finicky testing to make it intuitive and good.

whereas just editing a few characters in some line o code ain't that much of a problem with all the same gains.

Will gazelle get inertia , and some respect to gravity finally ?

@Haukka81

Can you elaborate a bit more ?

Inertia has already been reworked to fit real gazelle pilot feedback since the last update, not sure what you mean about gravity.

Speaking about 2.5.0.

He may be talking about similar inertia issues discussed here.

Yes, thats what i mean.

Im so close to buy gazelle but things like that will keep my wallet shut.

Huey and Shark (and mi-8 have really nice flight models , so dont wanna get "faulty" chopper .

There is so much (negative) talk about gazelle flight model in internet that im just wanna be sure before i use money.

Don't believe every s*** you read on the net. There is some minor work left but even the Huey isn't perfect (https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3274982&postcount=222)

Make yourself an opinion but don't give anything on clickbait posts, Youtube channels or even my opinion.

Compared to other helicopter simulations in other sims it is pretty good...

Remember. The Huey, Mi-8 and Ka-50 are considered some of the best helicopter FM ever produced, so don't expect Gazelle to be better! The inertia, feeling of movement through the air etc. You cannot beat ED/Belsimtek when it comes to helicopter flight modeling.

Also, flight models are never exact replicas of the real thing. There will always be deviations. How small and how large depends on programming skills and information avalible. That will vary depending on developer and module. ED/BST set the bar really high here, so don't expect every module to have the best FM ever made.

So basiclly, It is a fully functional module. If you like the Gazelle, go for it. If you like the tactics and type of flying employed by Gazelle pilots, go for it. If you like french systems, go for it. If you are only interested in flight modeling and that type of stuff, you might wan't to look for something else. Watch videos, read forum and make your own opinion. But as a "package" I think it is a solid module if you like the Gazelle and it's role as a helicopter.

Its amazing how people judge FM like experts everyday.

I would say just get it!

For me it's hands down my favourite chopper not because it's perfect I wouldn't know I'm not a pilot. But because it's the most fun to fly. You'll love it in VR. Oh and a word of warning she's very addictive.

I'm pretty sure I have made one person nauseous when they jumped in the co-pilots seat with me. :D

Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment.

Gazelle Mini-gun version is endorphins with rotors. See above.
