Flappie,

I just happened to have the latest HWMonitor on my desktop.

I ran it but I don't see the section "tensions min/max?"

thanks for the log

ensure you have enough room on the drive for shader compilation

what drive are you using and how much space do you have left on it?

The game is on my second drive and i have 400GB of free space, but i saw this and most of the texture still in zip file when the installation is done. i'm not expert in soft programmation.

Bignewy & Flappie,

I'm concerned about my last log file as I had to intervene because it came up in VR mode. So I was doing CTL-ALT-DEL to gain control of the system, and may have altered my systems response.

So attached are two files, a new virgin log file and an image of the HWMonitor results based on a new repair update. I feel more comfortable when you evaluate the new log file,

I don't see any problem in your HWMonitor readings (5V and 12V tensions are not displayed, but the GPU tension seems OK).

Your log file still displays the "DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED" error (driver or graphics card malfunctioning).

Thanks,

I dont see any reason for your gpu crash in the logs, and your temps look fine, it is strange, you have some errors but none that would create the gpu driver to crash.

Hi,

Thanks for evaluating my situation.

As to my graphics, I have a single Samsung 43 inch TV/monitor that will run at 30 Hz. In addition, I have the Oculus Rift VR device attached. Both plug in via HDMI cables.......my 1081Ti has two HDMI ports. As per Flappie's suggestion, I updated my video driver from 388.59 to 390.77, which as of a few days ago, was the most recent version.

My screen setup is 4K 3840 x 2160.

So I will try DDU removal tool and re-install to see if that will help.

BTW - should I setup Nvidia Inspector for DCS?

Any other suggestions, I have no idea as to what to do next?

Up until recently, DCS ran really well on my system............both 2D and VR. I also have P3D v4.1 running well and all I fly is VR..........no issues with P3D.

This is a weird issue, unlike anything I have ever experienced before!

I would like to say that since last update considered stable now , 2.5.0.15365 I have constant crashes. I can easily force it by starting TF51D in Batumi, external view and a few look around movements crashes to logo of DCS.

I also have GTX 1080 Ti, happens even underclocked on 90% power as factory ASUS silent setting.

First I encountered problem on Oculus VR, but now happens also with VR disabled.

Previously I had Display driver stopped working and recovered, so I did:

Revert to driver 388.59 as oculus suggestions using DDU and ALL suggestions for power settings, etc.

I was able to fly for 90 min over Las Vegas with Huey. So I thought problem is solved. Then I switched on shadows and problem started but with different results showing DCS logo. Switching off shadows does not help.

I reverted Dcs to version 2.5.0.14304 succesfully. Problem still remains.

Page file is set on default system settings. I have 10 gigs of RAM on i7-920.

For me DCS is also unplayable.

I spent previously at least 30-50 hours without single crash even using pixel density 1.8. Other VR games runs perfectly for long time like Assetto Corsa and Euro Truck Simulator 2.

I also made Memtest86+ which did not show any problems.

@Bingo41: Weird. As I was playing IL2-BoK yesterday, the game crashed showing the same DXGI device removed error. It seems like nVidia screwed up with their latest drivers. Still, I haven't seen this error in DCS so far.

I updated to 2.5 a few days ago and I also experience freezes every time I play, both in Normandy (Spitfire) and Caucasus (Viggen). Sometimes I can fly for a long time, sometimes just a few minutes. The picture freezes but the sound is still on. Nothing happens and no response what so ever from DCS.

I installed the latest drivers through Geforce experience but I had a terrible frame drop from 60 to 20 fps, so I rolled back the old driver (2017-Oct something) right away.

So, what should I look for in the logs? What information is of interest for the troubleshooting?

Flappie,

One of the problems for us flight simulation guys, is that this hobby is a very small niche compared to the rest of the gaming world. I believe the only people who may have had a limited success of working directly with Nvidia is Lockheed Martin with their P3D version. Being a large aerospace company may help. Getting the attention from Nvidia who focuses on the main stream games is tough?

I keep hoping that the DCS developers next release will fix this issue. I have rolled my system back to my older Nvidia driver 388.59, which worked before. I use Macrium Reflect to create a disc or SSD image as the way I back up my installed sims.

Hi Dr_Arrow

can you let us know your system specification?

Try the crash advice in my signature, and if possible the next time it crashes attach the whole log, it gives the devs a better picture of what was happening prior to the crash.

I have a guide for attaching the log in my signature also

Dear BigNewy, thanks for the advice, I have repaired my install and do not use mods, however I have not deleted my saved games folder after the last update, the frequency of these crashes is maybe 1 in 5-7 single-player simple missions (not more than 50 units on Caucasus). My config is i7-2600K@3.6Ghz, 16GB DDR3 RAM, Win-10, Nvidia GTX-1070 8GB (latest drivers), DCS on a separate Samsung SSD - 256GB. I will try to delete the saved games folder and if a crash happens I will attach the whole log (I have many of them).

Deleting saved games hasn't helped (no mods, repaired clean install). Still getting crashes, I am attaching my log file (My config is i7-2600K@3.6Ghz, 16GB DDR3 RAM, Win-10 64Bit, Nvidia GTX-1070 8GB (latest drivers), DCS on a separate Samsung SSD - 256GB.).

Hi All,

I did an experiment and collected what I think may be interesting data.

Attached is an image of my current DCS settings with Deferred Shading turned OFF.

However, at the beginning of this thread, when I had Deferred Shading turned ON, I was getting a crash 100% of the time.

Typically, the sim would crash somewhere between 1:48 minutes and 3.12 minutes when I was flying free-flight Instant Missions.

However, when I turned OFF Deferred Shading, I was able to fly at least one of these Instant Missions for 30 minutes before I terminated the mission. Presumably I could have continued much longer.

I also collected the following data for both Deferred Shading ON and Off:

Deferred Shading Off:

Video Memory = 8,742 MB

Frame Rate – Between 160 and 170 FPS

Deferred Shading ON:

Video Memory = 12,4280 MB

Frame Rate – Between 70 and 80 FPS

By the way, I have a GTX 1080 TI with 11GB of RAM and my system Ram is 32GB. So I was quite surprised, given my current settings, that the video RAM exceeded my 1080TI capacity.

I will play around with my settings to reduce the video RAM usage below the GTX 1080TI 11GB threshold to see if I can run with Deferred Shading ON?

What do you all think?

Bill Clark

Hi

The warning bar on the left is there permanently it shows you forum warnings status, if you have any you can use it to see what the warning is for, if it is at zero you have nothing to worry about.

It should not be popping out, if it is take a screenshot and pm me I will take a look at it.

thanks

Flappie,

With both Deferred Shading and VSYNC checked I was able to fly for 30 minutes without a crash.

Because I fly primarily in VR, I'm not absolutely sure you can check VSYNC box and expect VR to work. I'll will check that out later today or tomorrow.

However, VSYNC seems to fix the crash situation in 2D mode on my particular system.

I am still curious about the difference Deferred Shading has on video RAM usage?
