FYI:

 

After updating my machine yesterday I ended up with broken sound drivers, or to be precise, I lost control over Front-out and the extras that come with it. The speakers reverted to default config.

 

last time that happened it took Asus 2 month to fix it, luckily this time you just have to overinstall the newest realtek driver (Asus site )( deinstalls and then reinstalls with reboots ) to fix it.

 

 

There is also a new known bug in Win10, likely being fixed with the newest 1803, but you never know. If your PC shuts down out of the blue since 2 weeks ( mine did ), shuffle the Power Settings a few times ( HP-->Balanced-->EnergySaver-->back to HP ) to fix it. Confirmed by Asus and [H]ardOCP.com.

 

Since 1803 this bug seems fixed for me but 24h time is not enough to say so finally.

Guess I will just stick to windows 7, at least I have a choice when I want to change stuff

I do have one weird thing happen on one of the PC's at work, had to reinstall a PDF driver. The PC would "blue screen of death" if you send documents to pdffactory Pro, not seen that in quite awhile! Not sure if it's from this tho? Never seen it before and been using the software for 10+ years, the other PC's are fine.

W10 update 1803 update went flawlessly here zero problems, sorry to hear some of you have them.

Deinstall the Suite and reinstall it again ( or newer version from Asus/MSI etc ).

 

My Realtek Icon came back after reinstalling and all options work.

 

You cannot splitt rear<-->front Audio into two independent jacks without that Software, neither would Sonic work.

 

 

I really really dislike Win10 philosophy of changing rules in the middle of the game, that's how I feel.

Linux....cmon..it's really getting time

 

Linux mint or ubuntu? I have very little experience with Linux. Do you think Is it just the software support, as to why Linux cannot grab more of the market share? It would be great if someone could muscle in and put some pressure on Windows. Being open-sauce like WordPress, I'm surprised it doesn't have more ground in the market much like WordPress websites, of around 30% share, they do have a lot of good software support in the way of paid and free plugin's I guess.

 

Linux need a way in and to pull some good developers over, just like WordPress. Not sure how they could do it? Microsoft are so tied into everything...

Nahh, it was only a "sigh, I wish we had a real alternative, but we don't"

 

I am not optimistic for Linux for Desktop for all. The hurdles are even higher and you do need more knowledge to bend your SuSE to a shape you like than install a few things on any Windows, that is the truth too.

 

I am just struck by this "new version = no sound driver" issue 3rd time now. Why does MS do that ?

What happens if Asus/MSI etc. stop supplying new drivers ? Will that be the new push button to force you to buy new...no more drivers to support the newest Builds in 1-3 years. ??

 

I like Win10 but this special part sucks big time

Got the new update and it porked my ASUS Suite 3. Had to do a search to find a newer iteration that once installed, have that app back and working okay. To be honest, I really can not notice ANY improvement in the new update.
