skarden Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 hey all,I'v finally sat down and done the training missions after not really touching the game since I install it and discovered that i really love this game after havin it for almost a year and not playin it:doh: but of coarse i really want to go online now as when i was gettin into IL-2(great game by the way!) it was when i made the most improvments(had too!)so i thought i would get the add on flaming cliffs and get online but god dammit if i can find it in australia from pretty much anywhere, i know i can get it oversea's but im tryin to avoid that as iv had a bad experience with that before and I dont want to have to wait 3 -4 weeks for it to arrive unless i have too.I even thought about gettin it through some ah......not so official means but just couldnt bring myself to do it as this genre is such a niche market the developer's of these games very clarly deserve my cash to keep up the good work. So if there are any aussies out there(or anyone really) who know of any good australian site i can get it from i would be super appreciative. Hopefully see you up there soon. cheers Intel Core i9-10850K ASUS ROG Strix Z490-E Gaming motherboard Gigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 3080 Master 32 GB Corsair Vengeance LED 3000MHz DDR4 Thrustmaster Warthog/ HP Reverb G2

PFMM Posted March 24, 2007 Posted March 24, 2007 The only version of Flaming Cliffs I've seen is the odd copy of the gold version (LO and FC) in some of the city stores, markets end of Elizabeth St. It's reputation of not working properly led me to buy the download version. Good luck anyway.

Ice Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Its a very fair price for a genuine quality product. It was also an agreed price by the publisher. These discs had to be air freighted from england. And only a small quantity were available. Maybe its just another chance to attack me ? Other Australians whom have bought this product from my business have been more than happy with the prompt delivery ,advice and help theyve received in getting things to run properly.
Prophet Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 LOL, get over yourself. I have never attacked you. I stated what I felt, as always. Sorry you dont think so, but I think its expensive. Did you ever consider, that maybe I was saying things are just expensive in AUS? I have heard how much other things cost. 1

We have the same problem in South Africa. Well actually even worse. We are very far away from everybody. Plus we get all the old stuff (Computer wise.) dumped in our country. P. S. Congratulations with the cricket.

G3 Posted March 25, 2007 Posted March 25, 2007 Its a very fair price. seems reasonable to me, USA imports of gold box set cost much the same. will you be doing the same with English CD/dvd version of blackshark ? i would take the cd version over a download anyday :)
skarden Posted March 26, 2007 Author Posted March 26, 2007 Wow,thanks for all the reply's guys, definintely what i was after, come payday I'll be grabbing a copy and plunging head long into learning this great game(could be a while me thinks). Oh yeah just just another question, since I'm still very much still learning everything I am still to do any of the training for the russian birds and i heard that once you install FC some of the training missions won't work anymore. is this true? Cobra747 Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Rugg has kindly agreed to ship Lock On Gold (this includes both Lock On and Flaming Cliffs cd) It costs him $US19.95 + postage of about $US10 and took just on a week to arrive. So your looking at around $AU50 for a setup that your good to go with. (not $99+ for an addon only and you still need to go and grab the original game before you can play.) Let us know as we'd rather see you guys pay market prices than get ripped off by some fallacy that Australia is isolated and you need to pay twice what everyone else in the world pays. :pilotfly:

So your looking at around $AU50 for a setup that your good to go with. (not $99+ for an addon only and you still need to go and grab the original game before you can play.) For the record. The price for the original Flaming Cliffs as printed by Eagle Dynamics / Ubisoft. As opposed to a second tier company, is $49.00 Australian. It is posted and shipped by Australia Post The Same Day at a cost of around $5.00 I suggest people get their facts right before claiming "Rip Offs" Not that its the norm but one person whom bought FC off me was given my old track IR one at no charge as well. Oh by the way Cobra, what's the price of Fighter Ops going to be again? $100.00US I heard. So Australian thats what.. $125.00 plus postage? Or maybe you could clarify as your a Development team member.
Cobra747 Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Your right Ice ... I was looking at the combined package (manual + FC) price. My apologies. Just to clarify the price you mentioned above is for the addon only (no original cd included which you need to play Flaming Cliffs.) Only Lock On Gold includes both Lock On (original cd) and Flaming Cliffs (addon cd) :(
Viper_212 Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 How about $29.95 at gameswarehouse.com.au then. A bit cheaper than $49.00 panthers price. http://www.gameswarehouse.com.au/longpage.asp?gameid=12344 Site says in stock.

Only Lock On Gold includes both Lock On (original cd) and Flaming Cliffs (addon cd) :( As for the 29.95 "in stock" someone ordered it from there and after 2 weeks demanded a refund as the supplier did not have it yet then bought it from me and had a copy within 2 days from Coffs to Melbourne.
Cobra747 Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Oh by the way Cobra, what's the price of Fighter Ops going to be again? $100.00US I heard. So Australian thats what.. $125.00 plus postage? Or maybe you could clarify as your a Development team member. Thats not set in stone but I'd say you'd be on the money (pardon the pun!) Also, I think you lost sight of what we were debating here. It isn't the worth of Lock On but the price that it can be bought for. I'd have to say at $50 for Lock On Gold it is under valued when you consider the time and effort that goes into developing a flight sim. When you consider the amount and time people get out of one game compared to what they would spend on say a first person shooter which goes out of fashion in a month or two .. they are worth a lot more than that!
Ice Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 If I was going to buy Lock On Flaming Cliffs id be very happy to pay a little extra knowing that the person I'm buying it off knows what hes talking about. Its a bit like buying a computer. buy one from Chandlers you'll get it cheaper sure. Or buy one from a reputable local dealer who actually knows how to use the computer. Might cost you a little more but you get your moneys worth every time.
Viper_212 Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 No doubt you would think that ICE. Especially when YOU are the one making a profit out of the community.
Ice Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 So that's where Cobra effed up! Had he bought FC from you then there wouldn't be a server ban on him right now, would there? If someones banned cobra from a server I'm sorry to hear it. It certainly wasnt me and it certainly isnt the case on our server. Another one who cant get their facts right.
