I've been running a practice mission with the AGM65Es, and I am consistently getting a failure to hit with the first launch. The second launch always hits.

The target is an SA-3 search radar lased by a JTAC positioned east of the target. I make my attack run from the northeast. Fuze is armed, laser code set 1688, A/G mode selected, uncage, laser spot is in the bullseye, Rifle at 6nm.

Impact, but no hit. On BDA I find that the impact crater is behind the target, as if the missile flew through the target before impacting the ground, and then detonating.

I make my second pass from the east/northeast, exact same procedure, Rifle at 6nm, and I score a hit. It's the same pattern every single time, and I can't figure out why my first shot always misses but my second always hits.

I'll try and grab a track file next time I fly it.

I can confirm this report. I just checked in single player to be sure, but I have also seen this in multi-player.

On what terrain did this happened?

Was it at night or day?

Ramp/Cold start, air start?

What version? (i.e. 2.5.2.17559.377)

I was able to hit a P-19 SA-3 search radar first time in the Caucasus at night from a cold start on OB version 2.5.2.17559.377

For me, MAP: Persian Gulf, and the MQ-1B (Predator) was lasing.

It could be a MQ-1B problem not a AGM-65E one.

First LMAV test using a HMMWV JTAC (scripted using CTLD), first one landed behind, second was on target.

I'll need to check with GBU-12/Predator combo to see if anything has changed between 2.5.1 and 2.5.2 but I was bombing soft targets before, so it's possible bombs were falling long but targets still destroyed.

Self lasing with the TPOD, I was 4 for 4 in single player (no misses).

Again, 2.5.2 for me, JTAC on the ground (CTLD ), first Mav always ok. Predator on the air ( NO CTLD ), first Mav ok.

Not a single issue here.

True. I'm not sure how to check to see what the MQ-1B is lasing though.

For me it was:

-DCS 2.5.2 latest version

-NTTR, day

-Ramp start

-JTAC is Humvee with TOW

I flew it again, this time trying an ingress/IP that put me in-line with the JTAC's laser and I scored a hit on the first shot. I'm guessing that all my previous runs were offset just enough that the missile missed. Running the same offset ingress/IP with GBU-12s and I have zero problems.

However, if the JTAC's laser is on the target, it should not miss from what little offset I initially ran my attack from. Since it impacted the ground behind the target, I'm starting to wonder if the laser is somehow going through the SA-3 search radar and illuminating the ground behind it.

The .trk of my successful run is too large to upload, but I'm attaching the .miz file so you guys can experiment with the same mission. JTAC is not programmed to auto lase, so you will need to hail him on radio. Note the default flight plan is not the one I use for -65Es.

I have the same problem with laser targets with JTAC predator, the missile does not reach the target a few meters from it. There seems to be some problem with jtac laser.

Do you mind attaching or uploading the mission file you are using for us to test and try out using all the same parameters as you?

Not sure if this matters within DCS, it could be a coincidence. But makes perfect since in RL. When using bomb guided by laser, pilots normally turn the aircraft to they can lase from the same side of the target that weapon is coming from. If not the weapons could focus on other reflection of the laser and miss. So the actual problem would be the GBU-12 working from the offset when it should not.
