Hi,

I have a TM warthog and I would like your help to place the HOTAS in my "cockpit".

Actually it's on the desk like that :

but it's really a pain to play a long time, how do you do ? could I have some picture ?

thanks

This is how I fly (mostly helicopters)

ASqIj4F.jpg

Stick in the middle, mouse on the right side, keyboard in front and trust on my left. In some helicopters (KA 50) I use the Keypad in the top left corner for weapon selection and moving.

Btw... what keyboard is that you have there?

Get them off the table.

Throttle on the left side.

Stick either as a center stick (preferably with extensions) or on the right side.

You could buy two Virpil mounts + adapter plates.

That setup would be nice for a center mounted stick with extension and mounted throttle. Agree with the above regarding the Virpil Mounts with adapters.

https://virpil.com/en/products/accessories/

Monster Tech also offers some nice table mounts, more compact and adjustable, but they are also more pricey as well. I have a couple of them (use one for my throttle) and they are very good. Using the Virpil mount for my Virpil stick though.

Once I changed to a center mounted stick with extension it really helped in my flying and felt much more natural.

Could I have some pictures of your setup ?

thanks

Here is my center mounted Virpil stick with 150mm extensions, and Warthog throttle with Monster Tech Mount. I have the CH Throttle Quandrant on the left there for some additional axis and buttons. Gives me all I need, plus very handy for flying in VR.

Edit: seem to be having trouble uploading the pic, will keep trying.

I recommend to pick up a Super Warthog Wheel Stand Pro...other sticks besides just the Hog can be mounted too.

I'm using Super Warthog Wheel Stand Pro too with Crosswind pedals, TM WH throttle and T-50 base and it's great. VPC desk mounts look great too and they're cheap.

i have a wheelstand pro too, with Crosswind pedals, and can still type on my keyboard. in fact that's what i'm doing now :)

i have an extension, mainly for flying "choppers", but don't use it for any of my fixed-wing mods, so that allows me to position the stand, with a centre-mounted stick, so that i am not too far back from where i'd be without it.

you play both in VR ? because with the SWWSP you have to be far from your desktop if you use a central stick

Yes I fly in VR, but you really don’t need to be that far at all from your desk...I mean look at my pic above. I barely have to learn forward at all to type on my keyboard.

Since I have to all tidy up everytimes (because of other uses of my place (project cars and other VR games that need much room) and because of my cat chewing cables :music_whistling: ), my throttle and stick are mounted on two former bar stools with their seats removed :smilewink: I'll post a picture as soon as possible :)

I'm no David Bailey (Google it if you're too young to know who that is) but the attached photograph might give you an idea.

You can't see much of the stand, but you can see that at WSP's website, via http://wheelstandpro.com/products/wheel-stand-pro-for-thrustmaster-hotas-warthog-saitek-x-55-x52pro-x65---deluxe-v2-

I have the keyboard stand to the right with a G13 mounted on it, although i don't really used that much. You can mount a full sized keyboard if you wish and the throttle, joystick and keyboard uprights are all interchangeable, perhaps for flying airliners, where the throttles are on the right and the joystick/yoke in the middle or even to the left.

I have a WSP for my driving setup, G29, too, so the ability to fold the stand up and store it out of the way is quite useful.

I put spiral wrap on the cable that I can't store every time smilewink.gif

I really want to buy the desk mounts along with the mounting brackets from Virpil. I think they'd be perfect for what I want. Only catch is that to ship them to my address in the US, it will cost about 100% of the value of the entire purchase. I'm not sure I can stomach that.

i went for the deskmounts from monstertech and, though they are quiet pricey, am very satisfied with them. they support several baseplates for different sticks.

maybe the shipping is a bit cheaper to the us from germany

i'm old and I get stiff if I cant move my sitting position. so I sit on the warthog base on the seat.

that way I can wiggle easily to a new position. without interrupting. and move the stick to retain position in relation to me.

I have a cushion under my thighs which raises them and the stick base a few inches and helps lock the base under my thighs.

it does not interfere with pedals etc.

on a racing seat I could attach it to.

its just easier if you can move it, I find.

I use the Wheelstand Pro as well, with a 15cm extension. Distance to table isnt uncomfortable at all. You can raise your desk with table risers if it doesn't give you enough clearance, or if you don't use extensions, it shouldn't be an issue.

Edit: In the picture below, there an inch and a half clearance between the tip of the Joystick and the bottom of the table. I also eventually figured a way to have the secondary MFD screen just below the main monitor to cover the unused area of the LED screen.
