F18 - change HUD colour

For those (like me) who want to change the colour of the HUD to more like the green light seen in the real F18 on youtube you can do the following:-

 

edit the following file:-

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Cockpit\Scripts\materials.lua

 

 

and change the line:-

MDG_materials[MDG_SELF_IDS.HUD] = {2, 255, 20, 255}

 

to

 

MDG_materials[MDG_SELF_IDS.HUD] = {151, 235, 193, 255}

 

 

enjoy.

 

you will have to re-edit the line every time there is an update

If you change the 3 first values and add them in the order top to bottom(RGB) you can check what color you will get and change it to your desired color :)

Can anyone tell me how to make the HUD less washed out and white. I want to massively increase the contrast and intensity of the colour. They're too pale.

you have 4 options of levels to adjust, 0,0,0,0 but RGB is only 3. How do I know wich is the wich?

It's Red-Green-Blue and Alpha.

 

Alpha defines the Opaqueness or opposite as lowered.

it's css colors so its only go up for 1 there but normally there is four 255's for true white.
