We spotted you 30 miles out and then it was a simple matter of flying down the last bearing. We didn't know you were a helo until Dobs ID at 5 miles. Neither human or game GCI ever said a word about your presence. Mark I eyeball only. Hinds are not invisible. It would sure be nice to get through just one mission without hearing about what's unfair, how we're cheating, exploiting something or how "fragile" the Hind is. Edited March 2, 2022 by Miccara
Alpenwolf Posted March 3, 2022 Author Posted March 3, 2022 Server News: - Helicopters in all missions on all maps are now hidden on the F10 map. * Operation Disturbed Pacific: - Blue helicopters carrier is now 17 km off shore instead of 21 km. - UH-1's being hidden on the F10 map and closer to Rota Island should find it rather easier to get the job done. * Work on a new mission featuring only the MiG-15 and the F-86 has already started. Reminder: The new mission, Arab-Israeli War (fictional scenario), kicks off this Saturday, around 1900 zulu 3 HACA DYCA Discord Cold War 1947 - 1991 You can help me with keeping up the server via PayPal donations: hokumyounis@yahoo.com
Alpenwolf Posted March 5, 2022 Author Posted March 5, 2022 (edited) Server News: The server's offline and for whatever reason I can't bring it back up!!! Something's up... I'm still trying. Alpenwolf Posted March 6, 2022 Author Posted March 6, 2022 After 4 intense hours of fighting, operation Arab-Israeli War came to an end. Both sides were trying constantly to get the job done and were more effective at denying each other of doing exactly that. From my perspective as Red GCI I think A-4 players were rather struggling a bit with the aircraft for the first 60-90 minutes. You know, lacking flying hours in a PvP environment. I'm not sure if F-5's were doing any strike missions, but I might be mistaking. MiG's focused only on CAP which is their objective. The nuke bombs weren't delivered safely, therefore, no nuke bombing missions for Red. Helicopters had a lot to do and were very busy, especially, SA342M's which flew CAS, SEAD and even strike missions being close to many TA's. Good to see the Gazelle being heavily used like in today's session. Round 2 kicks off next Saturday, 12.03.2022, around 1900 zulu. 2 1 HACA DYCA Discord Cold War 1947 - 1991 You can help me with keeping up the server via PayPal donations: hokumyounis@yahoo.com
Alphaless Posted March 6, 2022 Posted March 6, 2022 I need to figure out how many Zunis are necessary to take out a bunker (assuming it's even possible with Zunis), I don't know how many I dumped into one of them with seemingly low effect. Bomb trucking was tremendously fun though!

Just hit them directly. 1 HACA DYCA Discord Cold War 1947 - 1991 You can help me with keeping up the server via PayPal donations: hokumyounis@yahoo.com
Bozon Posted March 6, 2022 Posted March 6, 2022 I am barely familiar with the A-4 and had time for only 2 quick sorties - was great fun! Had only minimal key bindings, I don’t know how to drop flares/chaff, I don’t know how to operate the inertial nav system, so flew WWII style by azimuth from fixed points and counting “Mississippis” and dive bombed like a Neanderthal Thank you Alpenwolf for giving the Scooter a chance. Loved it! Now I need to learn it properly. 3 “Mosquitoes fly, but flies don’t Mosquito” :pilotfly: - Geoffrey de Havilland. ... well, he could have said it!
Enigma89 Posted March 6, 2022 Posted March 6, 2022 Did anyone manage to get the nuke off yesterday on the mission? I joined late so I wasn't able to join on the full experience

We'll have to be quick next time and provide proper CAP. HACA DYCA Discord Cold War 1947 - 1991 You can help me with keeping up the server via PayPal donations: hokumyounis@yahoo.com
Tavo89 Posted March 7, 2022 Posted March 7, 2022 I hope to fly the A-4 in some mission based on the Caucasus map, I've been learning to fly this free mod for two intense days and it's really very good. 1

KONGMAN Posted March 7, 2022 Posted March 7, 2022 hello everyone, congrat for makers of Cold war server, makes me happy... see you there 1 1 Intel 11900K, 64GB 3600 Mhz G-Skill, Nvidia 3080, Virpil WarBRD, Virpil Constellation ALPHA, Virpil MT- 50CM3, Logitech/Saitek Flight switch panel, Logitech Rudder
rossmum Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 Unfortunately DCS trackfiles are still extremely prone to desync, so I couldn't get all the pretty screenshots I was hoping to post. I had a dumpster fire of a day (didn't realise SRS PTT was double bound with weapon release, since I hadn't had need to use SRS in the jet before, so my first two Shrikes and a Mk 83 went for dirt just by the coast, then I couldn't get a single Shrike to work after that...) but it was fun, and aside from having to yell over comms a few times at F-5s trying to teamkill me, it went smoother than I expected. The OP overlooking the Sea of Galilee is well enough defended that really it needs a simultaneous attack by two or more Skyhawks, I think. I didn't try the others. Can't wait for next run of the mission! 3

Can't wait for next run of the mission! Did you try the .trk file from the server's machine itself? I saw you mostly attacking the third Observation Site which is the toughest. Might wanna start with 1 and 4 first (closer to Blue assets and smaller than the other two), then number 2 and lastly number 3 with multiple Skyhawks at the same time. The chemical factory only when the first TA's are completed. After round 2, and only if enough players join, I should have a better judgement on whether I should reduce the amount of assets Blue must destroy or not. Round 1 ran with 15 players at the least and 24 at the most. 20-30 players throughout the mission would be ideal. MMI_Grim Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 (edited) The screens look nice. Looking forward to try the mission myself. I would also love to see the A-4 on Caucasus so people can get the full fidelity experience on the best server for free. Edited March 8, 2022 by MMI_Grim 1 FLAPS 1-3 | Grim

If that one works expect some more screens. I mostly started with 3 because it was the easiest to find and spot, and I don't fully understand the Skyhawk's nav system yet. Definitely hard to attack, but led to some awesome dogfights! 1
Brown Floyd Posted March 9, 2022 Posted March 9, 2022 Just watched Mike Delta's Twitch video of the new event, and it was one of the most gripping shows I've seen in a long time. Very exciting mission, well done to everyone. I think Alpen hit a homerun with limiting the player-controlled CA vehicles to AFVs and let the AI control all the air defenses. I think he did it to balance the playing field with some of the more experienced CA players who are real sharpshooters, but it had the happy accident of creating more tank battles and it was pretty slick. I think there might be some growing pains with the hidden helicopters, but it just means that players will need to do a better job of keeping teammates informed on where they are and what they're doing...just like real life in the 70s and 80s. All in all, very fun experience! 3

Brown Floyd Posted March 9, 2022 Posted March 9, 2022 Yeah, that was a lesson learned: Blue can bomb the bombs and take out the nukes before you get a chance to deploy them, so Red should focus on that mission in the first hour, including CAP over the chemical factory and maybe an escort for the slingloading helo. 2
Alphaless Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 Turns out our inability to destroy water towers on Open Range looks pretty good on camera. On that note, what is the health of those towers? We put a heavy amount of munitions into them with little effect. Are they supposed to be destroyed? 1
Miccara Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 @Alpenwolf Watch Mike-Delta's stream from last night, from 2:07 to 2:11:50 where Red choppers are shot down. Notice the in-game chat at the end. Wouldn't be quite as bad but for the fact the poster has to expose his message, and his frustration, to the Blue side. Calling a long-time, excellent player a cheater repeatedly (not the first time), when there is absolutely no truth to the claim, is truly becoming tiresome for many of us and something that certainly makes non-regular players to the server question the integrity of the player unjustly accused. 2:19 is another classy remark from him. Normally, I really don't care about this kind of thing and would even bother commenting but this complainer has whined enough to have you consider changes to the game missions. Not asking you to comment or confront. I simply want to vet a little. Like I said before... it would be great to get through a mission without the one, single, constant complaining guy pushing his "those cheaters" campaign to every player on the sever.

You'll need Mk-83's or Mk-84's for each one. Red would also need FAB 250 or better FAB 500 bombs or S-24 rockets to get the job done. 4 hours ago, Miccara said: @Alpenwolf Watch Mike-Delta's stream from last night, from 2:07 to 2:11:50 where Red choppers are shot down.
