3ra_Luke Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 Maybe a silly question, but have you guys perhaps enabled "Collect Statistics" under DCS->Options->Misc? I have it disabled long time ago. BeastyBaiter Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 DCS will stutter or completely freeze for network traffic. This is in game though. That 5 minutes of 2 fps when loading up 104th isn't loading stuff into memory or VRAM, it's downloading stuff from the server. I've verified this by monitoring task manager on many occasions while hopping into a match vs loading the same mission for SP. Having the game freeze up for your smart TV is odd though. I might look into that, its hard to believe but I suppose it's possible. System specs: i5-10600k (4.9 GHz), RX 6950XT, 32GB DDR4 3200, NVMe SSD, Reverb G2, WinWing Super Libra/Taurus, CH Pro Pedals.
smallberries Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 any CPU activity interupts frames because the processing is done between the frames, that's been known for years and it's no different from any of the other imaginative ways you can cause frame loss. My new favourite is zooming in and out on the F10 map on the server whilst folks are refueling, that's hilarious fun. But seriously, nothing new here. You, sir, are an evil genius... emphasis on the evil.
BitMaster Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 It's a certified bug with Win10 1803 meanwhile. It's related to Intel NIC's and it's effect is not only what we have in DCS for some Pilots but also goes much deeper into networking like VLAN's. From what I have read, the ball is on MS's site. I am unsure if a newer/older driver could fix the issue. The info about that 1803 is from a computerworld article discussed here: https://www.hardocp.com/news/2018/07/01/windows_10_1803_isnrsquot_ready_for_prime_time Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus XG27ACG QHD 180Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X

Nealius Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Just chiming in to say that I have experienced the same. Also running a Z170 motherboard here. The stutters haven't been too bad with the recent updates, but before the Hornet released it was pretty bad. Every time I had a stutter I had a spike in my network; which only has two devices connected to it when I fly.
BitMaster Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 If mine went bad, aka stuttering, I'd get me a Realtek NIC for 10€ and use that one while I have the Intel NIC disabled in Bios. Fact is , I run 2 Intel NICs and both work flawless on my end. hansangb Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 (edited) If someone wants to capture the traffic using Wireshark, I'd be happy to take a look. But I can't imagine traffic causing spikes unless it's due to buggy drivers. If it's multi-player, then I can see it causing issues. But not because I suspect traffic load. It may be because the NIC is enabled with Interrupt Moderation (or interrupt coalescence) enabled. When these settings are enabled, it can lead to suboptimal behavior. But even then, I wouldn't suspect traffic, but a buggy driver. Anyway, if someone is willing to capture, and note the time as best they can (of when the jitter occured) I can take a look at the trace file. PS: i'm not doubting what people are observing, but just keep in mind that it takes 300 to 400ms to blink. And in that time, a packet can go to from New York to Australia and back with 100ms to spare. So it could be a coincidence or the traffic could be a symptom. BitMaster Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 Really, the easiest way is to buy another non-Intel PCIe based Network Adapter and use that one for the time being. There are more articles in the wild now describing this issue and all sorts of fixes people applied. It seems that it is somehow related to this ( despite it refers to 7 in this article ): http://maximumpcguides.com/windows-7/what-is-the-function-discovery-resource-publication-fdrespub-service/ One guy fixed his pen's stutter by this, maybe a pen and TrackIR / DCS are similar enough to suffer the same jitter/stutter. BitMaster Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 where's the fix? I cant find it Actually, on my 3rd read, it's a good question: The guy from Post #18 likely ( imho ) means re-eanbling two services, one of them is FDResPub but there is no mentioning of the 2nd service. He also says it went away with the last patch for 10...I admit, all not very clear. I would check FDResPub's status play with it, for the 2nd service I would look for fdPHost but I am really not sure about that one. You have to check them and see if altering their status fixes your network issues. Neil Gardner Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 I wrote a thread which seems to have disappeared in which I pointed out that despite having previously been convinced that the stutters were the result of WiFi - , the reason being that when I shut WiFi down at the level of the OS the stuttering stopped - yet now such remedies don't work so I have to wonder whether it is actually to do with these things after all.
Neil Gardner Posted July 7, 2018 Posted July 7, 2018 I should add that my 'Function Discovery Resource Publication ' wasn't even on in th efirst place. And when out of desperation I dsabled the damn thing it didn't make an ounce of difference.
