Will be a big difference between BS and Flaming cliffs minimum hardware specifications ?

I play FC smooth at medium to low settings on my notebook . I´m not sure BS will run good because the models are much more detailed. Perhaps it will be good tweeked.

System requirements:

Minimum: Pentium III 800 MHz or AMD equivalent; RAM 256 MB; 16x CD/DVD ROM drive; 2.5 GB free HDD space; video card with 64 MB RAM and full DX 8.1 support; keyboard; mouse; Windows 2000/XP.

Recommended: Pentium IV 2 GHz or AMD equivalent; RAM 1 GB; 16x CD/DVD ROM drive; 2.5 GB of free HDD space; video card with 256 MB RAM and full DX 8.1 support; keyboard; mouse; 4+ axis joystick; Windows 2000/XP operational system.

But ofcourse, even the recommended requirements don't say squat in lomac's case ;) I updated my mobo bios, and, I lost an activation, but also got smoother frames and no 'critital memory errors' (A quick successive double beep with the AMI bios). Also, I haven't experienced random hard locks where everything freezes up (nothing in log files). So, wasting that activation was worth it :) Now I can enjoy the su-25T without choppy frames.

Asus A8V, 226 firmware/bios/pickanameforthathardwaredriver

Athlon 3700+ @ 2.35 Ghz

2 Gb Ddr @ 430 Mhz

Ati Radeon 9800XT

And, finally, smooth lomac performance with no hard locks or memory leaks.

Man, this all is too good to be true, gotta test this thoroughly first.

Sorry for allahu akbarring the thread, just wanted to say that mobo drivers and good bios can be the difference between an unplayable pos sim and fps smooth as silk.

Expect BS to be slightly more challenging to your PC than FC is - in much the same way that the new 3D model and AFM of the Su25T is more challenging than the Lomac v1.02 aircraft :)

More detailed simulation requires more power, it's an unfortunate tradeoff. How much more of course remains to be seen, you're best asking that at BS release.

For the moment I wouldn't worry about it.

If an upgrade is a possibility for you then that would be a good thing for any version of Lomac - but remember that the longer you leave it, the more time you have to save and the more contemporary the PC at BS release.

To my mind the minimum specifications for FC have been nonsense for some time - although I did once get the Lomac demo to run on a PII-350 with a GeForce 2Mx . . . . .

As soon as I read the title of this topic I thought that the systems minimal spec were finally posted and I said to myself "OMG, My PC wont even be able to run it at the lowest settings". However Force Feedback shows this Specs -that I guess they're official- and, imo, they're too good to be true. I dont really believe that a 2.0 GHZ and a a dx8.1 card -even the fastest DX8.1 vcard available- will be enough to give a BS good experience. c'mon dont make laugh.. that's not even sufficient for LO: FC!!!

As matter of fact I noticed that the engine hasnt been given a significant upgrade... recommended a DX 8.1 card?? c'mon it's been about 4 years since the release of DX 9 and BS will still come out DX8.1 compliant!!

I wanna see bump maps on those rivets and bolts of the panels. I wanna see HDR for those skies.. :'(

My rig specs:

The specs he posted were for LOMAC when it first came out and yes, like most posted minimum/recommended specs, they were pretty much a joke.

LOL.. To get back on topic... I was thinking about the specs needed to be able to play BS ...

I'm sure that considering all of the addional details that are being developed, (and the addon hasn't even gotten a candidate for release yet) ...

So I'm sure that we'll need a very powerful system to run it on...

I just upgraded but I think I'm most likley going to have to upgrade my GPU once BS hits the shelves....
