Dispatch Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 HI Guys, Is there a way to save Counter Measure Programming. Or so you have to set it up every time, every mission ? I set it up and save it, next time have to set it up again Thanks Again ~
Azazel Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 There is, alittle tedious but not too hard. Make a copy of the CMDS_ALE47 file located here: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Cockpit\Scripts\TEWS\device. Then modify it to release your chaff flare count preference (use notepad ++ for your own sanity) and paste it back in the same location. I set this up so program 1 release 3 flare in quick and then program 5 does the same for chaff and then bound them on my HOTAS. You'll have to replace the file every-time the sim gets an update. I image there is a way to do this with a mod manager too. My Rig: EVGA GTX 1070 x 2 | EVGA x58 SLI classified | i7 X 990 CPU | 24 GB RAM | Windows 10 Home 64 bit| Track IR Pro | CH Fighter Stick | CH Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
shindawg Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Here is one which has already been setup to use a mod manager https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3300689/ and here is a link to the mod manger I use. works a treat https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=171956 cheers MSI Z170X-Gaming 5, Intel 6700K, 32G RAM, RTX2080ti, Samsung SSD gaming drive, Samsung SSD System drive, RIFT CV1, TM Warthog Hotas, TPR peddles, Gamtrix Jetseat
Dispatch Posted August 5, 2018 Author Posted August 5, 2018 Thanks Guys edited the file , and works great ~
Eldur Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Can I place that file in the save games folder so it doesn't get overwritten during update? Tried that, no luck. Also, bear in mind that changing the programs in there will not be taken into account for track playback. If you're going to report issues with some tracks and give them someone who didn't make the exact same changes to their CM programs, they will be completely different on their end. For example I changed program 5 to drop 6 single chaffs with 0.75 interval. Then I watched a track where I dodged SAMs and also tried to notch them which was recorded without the changes, but I made the configuration on the fly. Result was it popped out 29 chaffs at 0.5 rate then on a single press. Third drop didn't work out anymore and the plane got killed in replay because it was out of chaff. Same goes the other way round. That's why I reverted to doing it myself.
falcon_120 Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 I'd rather stay realistic and just put my switch in BYPASS. When we get an actual jammer I'll just run it like I did the Harrier. Sorry, why is that realistic? aren't F18 pilot using program operationally? I see some good advantages of using a predefined CMS program.
falcon_120 Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 If the programs are stored in volatile memory (programs 1-4) are cleared when the aircraft is shut down in real life then that's realistic. If, in operational use in the real world, program 5 is the only one that's stored and recalled on system boot then that's the way I'm going to run it. If programs aren't stored in the system IRL then I'm not jury rigging files out of convenience. I don't really care what you do. I do nothing. The way that you said it seemed like RL hornet pilots use CMS on bypass mode. They probably use programmed mode either by entering each program at startup according to threats briefing or by means of a cartdrige in which case anyone using the method preescribed above could think as a close resemblance to that. Regarding the volatile memory that you claim, do you know that for a fact or is something you have just made up as it seems?
QuiGon Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 (edited) IRL CM programs are usally configured on a mission computer together with other mission data that then gets stored on a cartridge, which gets inserted into the aircraft on startup. Unfortunately DCS doesn't support pre-mission planing and data cartridges (yet?). Edited August 6, 2018 by QuiGon Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
