Dragon1-1 Posted Tuesday at 10:34 AM Posted Tuesday at 10:34 AM That, or a ghost risen from Davy Jones' locker. Still, that screenshot made it clear that as of earlier this month, Vulkan is still not ready for primetime, though it is getting there. They did get that one fixed, but I suspect there's a lot of similar issues remaining, and it's currently in the phase of being combed for such bugs. We'll probably still find a bunch of egregious graphical glitches once it goes out to the general public, but that's how it goes in DCS.

Now, this screenshot showed a rather hilarious transparent carrier bug, but it shows that it's at least sufficiently functional to otherwise look more or less the same as what we have. So there's progress, at least. Where? Maybe Vulkan will enable different/additional Visual effects like raytracing e.g. but the basic Assets.... I would be very surprised if they looked much different. 1 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"

Why should they. ...maybe because someone goofed up and now the rendering order is backwards. They will look the same if everything works right, but as we saw, this is not necessarily the case at this stage. When we get it, it'll probably look mostly the same, but you can be sure there'll be a whole slew of new bugs. Hopefully, since the new rendering system will have dumped some technical debt, they will be possible to promptly fix. Edited Tuesday at 03:28 PM by Dragon1-1

Dragon1-1 Posted Tuesday at 04:27 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:27 PM Honestly, I think that the Halloween update was the best we could get at this stage. It's testing and bugfixing, so it looks exactly the same like it does now, only it runs on Vulkan. Unless you run into a particularly hilarious bug, there's nothing to post about. Updates would be something like "there was this annoying object flickering that the public build never had, we just fixed it". At best, we'll get a video showcasing other stuff (like 2026 and beyond) with a caption "this was made using the Vulkan build", but that's only when it no longer has any glitches that'd spoil the video. 1
