Radar range, in DCS WORLD Vs Real Range ?

By searching on the internet a table of maximum range of the aircrafts radars, I wondered if it was in conformity with the reality in the game?

here is the most complete and recent table I found :

F-16 ABR 130 km 275 km

F-18 APG-65 ~72 km ~ 150 km

TWS of 10 targets at 74 km. HUD acquistion auto lock at ~9 km.

F-18 APG-73 (APG-65 x 1.2) 85 km ~180 km

F-20 APG-67 90 km ~130 km max

F-22 APG-77 230 km 490 km

MiG-21 RP-21 Spin Scan 9.5 km 20 km max

MiG-21 RP-22 Saphir-21 14 km 30 km max

MiG-23 High Lark 33 km 70 km

MiG-23ML Sapfir-23ML 40 km 85 km

MiG-25 RP-25 Smerch-A 47 km 100km

MiG-25 Sapfir-25 66 km 140 km

MiG-29 NO-19 Slot Back 70-100 km 100-150 km

Tracks 10 targets, guides against 1.

MiG-29 NO-10 88 km 186 km

MiG-29 SMT-II NO-19ME Topaz 130 km 275 km

MiG-31 Zaslon 110 km 240 km

Mirage 2000-5 RDY 130-140 km 275 km

F-22 APG-77 230 km 490 km

I meant this only: F-22 APG-77 230 km 490 km

Does anyone know where to find in the game files the radar range tables of each plane ?

The thing to keep in mind 'max range is under nominal conditions and an ideal target'. There is no one size fits all 'max range'. A B52 can be seen from a greater distance than an F-5 than a Tomahawk. This is true in the game, too. So, you need to specify a target type, relative orientation, etc, all of which affect detection range.

Add in modern aircraft with at least partial RCS reduction features and a F-15 can be seen from a greater distance than a Eurofighter even though they're approximately similarly sized. etc etc

In other words those figures are useless except in a ballpark sense.

If you really want to know fire it up and do some tests with the F-15.

Basically this.

I know all this, what I'm looking for is to make a database on the different DCS WORLD aircraft radar to compare them ..

We can stay on the optimum condition of detection of a fighter, just to compare them and see global detection distance and have a reference.

For example the radar of the F-14B Vs F-15C and the others ..

I've locked stuff at over a hundred miles (nm) in the Hornet, so it seems better than it's stated performance there. Depends what that performance is trying to state though - fighter vs cargo plane etc.

In DCS:FA-18C we have APG-73, right?

So how can I switch between targets and shoot all of them? Or I can shoot only one target?

Yes APG-73. Wait 0.5-2 years until the module is finished, then you'll have LTWS/TWS.

OMG...half a year or two years?!?

So now I can shoot only one TGT, and whem we have LTWS or TWS we will be ablle to shoot more TGTs?

BTW what is LTWS/TWS...

(Latent) Track While Scan.

It enables the radar to soft-lock a target while still scanning for more targets. With this mode you will be able to fire multiple AMRAAMS at multiple targets. It's not implemented for the Hornet yet (but it is for the M2000C, F-15, ...).

It doesn't conform with the game, nor does it conform with reality - at least, even if the figures are realistic, there's no way to tell against what kind of target. You need very specific target data for this. For some radars, those exist (in the sense that we, the public can access them) ... for others, not so much.

I know, but there are no 'tables'. Working them isn't particularly easy but it isn't hard either. It's also something you shouldn't do, as the RCS values appear to interact directly with the chaff rejection mechanism in-game, and it's tuned very specifically to those RCS values.
