Yurgon Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 I recently installed DCS on a notebook to be able to test some missions (mission briefings, actually) while I was away from my gaming PC. There was a crappy Internet connection with crappy WiFi that topped out somewhere around 400 KByte/s, and the base game download with the Caucasus map took almost 2 days and nights, with several interruptions and reboots. The downloader worked really, really well for me, though. With the Torrent, I always had enough peers to keep the downstream maxed and after each disconnect, it didn't take too long for the downloader to pick up where it had quit before. Coming from the early days of DCS, it just occured to me that the updater/downloader is such a big step forward over the huge manual downloads we used to have, I just wanted to say a big thanks! And yeah, I'm aware that for some people the transfer rates were (are?) horrible especially on release days, but for me the Torrent updater has been a blessing from day one, and even more so now that I've seen it from a lower end of the bandwidth spectrum (at home I'm fortunate enough to have 100 MBit FTTH, with actual download rates around 10 MByte/s).
Eight Ball Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 Well said mate. I don't know who at ED is behind this nifty little tool but he doesn't get nearly enough praise. My hat to you Mister (or Miss...or anything in between) Find The Links To All My Mods And Liveries Here (in the gallery)

QuiGon Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 +1 The updater is indeed working exceptionally well nowadays and is a great and nifty tool that not just works very reliable, but also offery a lot of very useful options (through the CMD). This is indeed very underpraised. Well done ED! Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
Mule Posted October 12, 2018 Posted October 12, 2018 I have to agree. It's that good we hardly talk about it. Fighter Pilot Podcast.
